Wanted: b18ep cylinder head
Just had the quote for fixing my cylinder head... I'm trying to source a second hand one! Lol

I can collect Saturday or even Sunday morning.
If you've got one I could buy, could you pm me your number please, or give me a ring.
077 four three one three nine nine one one
Thanks loads! Ryan
EDIT: could I use a 2.0 head without any problems?

Re: Wanted: b18ep cylinder head
No it won't fit. The B20F head is a completly other design then the B18. The B18 has the Heron type as the B20F the Partagee type. The combustion chamber from the B18 is in the piston, the B20F combustion chamber is partly in the piston and partly in the head.EDIT: could I use a 2.0 head without any problems?

Re: Wanted: b18ep cylinder head
the turbo bracket comes off so I imagine the manifold outlet then just bolts on
Re: Wanted: b18ep cylinder head
Thats a turbo head jim.
Blackbelt any head from any of the 1.7's would fit fine as you have the cam from your engine which determins it's a b18ep.
the non turbo heads have the combustion chamber in the head, only the turbos have a heron head! i belive the 2.0 just has bigger valves. but dont quote me on that as ine never seen one!Iroll480 wrote:No it won't fit. Re: Wanted: b18ep cylinder head
not true. all 1.7 have flat heron heads, not just turbo. ive changed a few gaskets. the turbo head has sodium filled exhaust valves and different valve seat angles, so theyre slightly dirrerent. as far as his cam shaft goes, it could have been bent when the pistons wolloped the valve stems into it with such force as to bend them. id fit a complete fresh head, have it skimmed - new guides - shims adjusted.bkf_uk wrote:Thats a turbo head jim.

Re: Wanted: b18ep cylinder head
Yep, only the B20F and B18U (only 440&460) have the Partagee type combustion chamber. All other B18 engines have the Heron type. The Partagee type has the advantages of the Heron type, a higher compression is possible and the fuel/air mixture is very equally dispatches in the combustion chamber. But not the disadvantage of the Heron, a high thermal load on piston and piston rings. That's why the heron type pistons need oil cooling on the bottom of the pistons by oil nozzles. The first '93 B20F had this system too, but it resulted in high oilconsumption. Volvo left the oil nozzles away in the '94 and '95 B20F aka green dipsticks. Also the place of the spark plug is different in the B20F to give a better and more equal burning of the fuel mixture.
