FOR SALE - And so it begins, the great 480 parts selloff.
God it pains me to do this, it really does, but after 7 years, F353 CHB is being sent to the great carpark in the sky. the cancer got her in the end, all around the windscreen, resulting in a number of cracks, two of which run right from top to bottom. Once the screwdriver passed through in three different places like a knife through butter, we all knew it was for the best.
Over the course of the past seven years I spent quite a bit of money, and time breaking many, many 480's, and put all the best bits i could on this one. Those of you who saw my car in its heyday at Devizes or Birmingham will know how exacting I have been.
Edd and I between us have also been hoarding hundreds and hundreds of spares.
Since Edds has also gone now linky, they aren't much use to us now..anything not useful for Amy's 440 is going. What we are NOT going to do is flood e-bay with all our parts at once, this will just push everyones prices down. and do nobody else selling, or us, any favours. If you want something specific, ask, within the thread, and I will have a look. My intention is to give forum members first chance, then e-bay.
Any money I make is going towards my next toy (I refuse to have a diesel as my only car!) I haven't quite decided what that will be, but it will be either 4 or rear wheel drive, and hugely impractical, that's a definite.
First up, a pair of rear light clusters.
All I have done is removed them (very carefully -that was quite scary), dumped them in my living room and posted the unedited photos (think pb might have resized them, so full res e-mailable, just ask. They have not been cleaned, although obvioulsy I will clean them off before anyone gets them.
ETA: The angle makes this pass side one look different, I can assure you they are of equal "shinyness"
Now we all know these are £120 + VAT each from volvo, so given their condition and that fact that I have seen them go for more on e-bay, I'm looking for £100 the pair. I won't split unless I get two people to both pay me at the same time, I doubt there are many people who will want one unfaded and one normal cluster on their car.
If i don't get that then they are going on e-bay for whatever someone will pay. I thinks that's fair enough?
Next up, a couple of small things i hoiked out quickly, first is the digital clock. Given what the last one I saw on e-bay went for, I'm going to list it on there unless someone makes me an offer I can't refuse?
Dammit, I left an oily fingerprint on the rest button, that will clean off..
And also an info centre switch with all the whiteness still on it!
I Dunno, fiver?
Also up from my car will be a set of clear front clusters, a PALM BEACH steering wheel + Boss (£350 + VAT from volvo for the wheel alone), a set of 15" split five spoke alloys with 4 Michelin tyres, an info centre display with red bars for the reserve portion of the tank, virtually unmarked black bumpers, custom parcel shelf with holes for 6x9's, and custom door builds with holes for (13.5 or 16.5, I forget?) speakers (both made by my own fair hands) a very very good 130k turbo engine and M59 gearbox with fairly new Volvo large diameter clutch, and all the usual bits of trim and other mechanical goodies. Pics to follow.
The scrapman has already offered me £200 for the leather interior, collecting Thursday. If no show by Saturday, then that will be offered on here too.
Given the vagaries of the postal system, I would much much much prefer collection of all but very small low value bits, (If anyone absolutely insists on me posting those lights I will not accept any responsibility if some fucker uses the package as a football at the sorting office) or I can deliver, as far north as Birmingham, as far East as The outskirts of west London (but bear in mind we're getting married in 8 weeks time, so you might have to wait if you are that far away) for the cost of running the car plus say 2p, I'll have to check my running costs spreadsheet to tell you what that will be (god that sounds organised, but doing 2.5k miles/month on expenses you have to be!) and cash on collection/delivery is always safest for all concerned.
This might sound a bit harsh, but I don't want to lose any cash, and you don't want to pay money for stuff that never arrives.
I'm going to cry in a corner now.

Well, we looked at it, and ummed and ahhed, but ultimately even if we did cut out and weld in several new sections, you cannot accurately paint the inside of sealed box sections, so it will just rust out from any oxidation in the welds. I've seen it too many times now to be fooled. Plus one of the rear seatbelt mounts looks like it might come off with a strong tug, and I made several holes in the boot. Weird how its just suddenly "gone", I reckon it was that salt/molasses mix the put on the roads a couple years ago.
The palm beach, I want £100 GBP + postage (as your in Finland I don't think delivery/collection is an option!) It is mint, another forum member bought it new from volvo, had it less than a year, I've had it three i think but only done about 8k with it.
Same disclaimer for postage applies, I'll get proof of postage and tracked recorded delivery of course.
I'll whip it off either later today or tomorrow and get some close up piccys.

Hi,
Condolences on the loss of your 480.
Sent ya a pm there but that was before I noticed you saying you want requests 'in the thread' - sorry!
I'm looking for some 'side bumpers' ie the trim that stretches along each side. Also the perspex thingy that sits in between the two rear clusters - sorry not sure what the proper name is. I would be interested in the clusters except for the fact that I am in Ireland and as you say, with a long postage there's every chance some twat in the post office will decide to kick it about.
Also, just out of curiosity, how much were you thinking of selling the alloys for?
Thanks,
David.

Thats ok, the only reason I said in the thread was so that I knew who asked for what first without having to writ stuff down, I will reply to the PM.
Alloys.....£150 + any postage. they are tidy, the only marks on them are from tyre fitters, in 9 years (had them on two other 400's) I managed not to kerb them!
Ill sort out a load more ics tomorrow,

The pics with it lowered are from a while ago, it was lowered, but I took the springs off because they were rubbish and the car ate tyres. The standard suspension thats in it now is much better for the poise and agility of the car.480 Tatey wrote:Hi mate,

Thanks

Not wanting to thread hi-jack, but I'll second Chris' comments about the PI 40mm (+extra for sagging) springs. I had them on my 480, and they were too low and harsh. In the end I swapped them from some 30mm Fintec springs, which were much better in my opinion.chris1roll wrote:pi

There is a Volvo sport/handling pack for sale from my car. Lowers the car a little but not much, depending on the sagginess of your existing springs.
It's the complete kit including the panhard rod.
Unfortunatly the salt/molasses stuff (I'll blame that for the rust as well) has rusted the rear damper cover tubes.

There is some other stuff on there as well.
Also for sale half leather seats, trim panels etc. some wear on the drivers seat in the usual place, but not any rips or tears. There is a hole in the fabric on the left hand side of the drivers seat at about arm level, about 8mm diameter. Other seats are in good condition.
Seats are not on ebay yet, and are stored in the back of my 760 so the mice don't get them. Anyone who wants to make an offer, please post here.
