FOR SALE:- LED DRL lights

Post by spree » Mon Sep 16, 2013 12:54 am

Yep I do indeed supply led running light bulbs in warm white or ice white. They work great with the pop ups, switch brightness correctly and most importantly they do not roast the living daylights out of the plastic clusters. The warm white versions also went through an mot undetected on my car. ;-) They also don't trigger the bulb out light on my 93 turbo but I do know that some models have the running lights wired into the bulb out circuit so it would trigger that on those cars. I'm getting more in this week. If anybody wants a set I do them for fifteen pounds delivered with a one year guarantee. I hope that's not spamming by me saying that here!?

I got a set of warm white from spree and it also passed MOT with no problem the other day. My 89 ES did have DRL in the bulb out circuit but removing a relay and adding a jumper wire stopped it being triggered from the DRL but left it working for the rears and most importantly stops the plastic roasting.

Spree you are not a spammer but a bona fide forum member who provides a service to other members.

The spammer only posted once and hijacked an old thread and slipped in a website address in USA which sold all manner of LED lights . As such it was removed as obvious spam. If he/she/it were genuine they would have been upfront about things not so underhand.

I got around to fitting my spree leds this week and they are fab, nice and cool for my plastic lens & they don't set off the 'light out' warning light on the dash...

Can I ask, are they a bit dodgy for the mot? Would I need to put the old bulbs back in or something? Just a lot of new cars run leds so you would think they would be fine. after all the actual dipped beam is with the poppups 'up' on the 1st position?

I think the MOT problem is that all of your front/white lights should be the same hue/colour as it were. Most of the LED lights give a very white light unlike old bulbs which is softer/yellower

I have led DRLs, I got from Spree. I have the warm white ones, and the correct fitting. They match the other lights great and have gone through 2 mot's with no question at all :D

If I remember correctly, shortly after posting this thread Martin got pulled and had to take them out there and then, breaking one of them in the bulb holder in the process as they didn't fit correctly in the first place

Hi Guys,

Only just seen this again. Yes the warm white ones fool anybody it seems so it's all good!

I have ice white in stock and have some warm white bulbs coming in.

Here is a picture with the warm white versions fitted...

Below is a link to a video on youtube that shows how they switch brightness correctly and of course work with the pop ups.

Do these work for both amber and clear clusters?

I have clear but am thinking about reverting back to amber... need them to work in both!

Many thanks!

Looking forward to getting my warm white's.
I've just installed clear lenses on the front, but may return to my ambers as there's a crack on the passenger side that is a little bigger than it appeared before installing.
Can anyone recommend a decent glue to cover the crack, make it waterproof and prevent further cracking?

The relay for the front bulb detector is in the front relay box it’s the one at the top of the pyramid and coloured blue. The 1992 wiring diagram doesn’t show it, the 1991 diagram does, so I guess that’s the point it was removed and changing the DRL to LED wont set off the warning light.

The jumper needs to go between the terminals S, SL and SR as shown in the picture.
