1991 ES Black : For Recovery / Rescue And Sale

Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

1991 ES Black : For Recovery / Rescue And Sale

Post by Pedro Morgano » Fri Apr 07, 2023 12:21 pm

Hi All You Admirable Aesthetics,
Sorry and tad ashamed to say after 6 years of procrastination and other priorities it's time i found a more loving capable partner for my once briefly loved 480. It's been languishing SORNED in a lock up for almost 6 years now, in East Kent, not far from Whitstable.
She was last MOT'd and passed with a few advisories in 2016, with 53,000 miles on the clock. However, she was a tad unreliable and needing some talent and TLC then especially regards dashboard / computer. But the 1721cc engine etc was fine. However, that was then. SHe was already a bit tatty on the inside. And will defo be much worse now. With degraded front tyres, flat battery, and no shortage of other failings i guess. I have not checked on her for two years. I will be in the week ahead. Not looking forward to it! Shame on me! Anyway....i'll post more details next week after a visit.
But i'm hoping for rescue / recovery or parts even and maybe someone here will be interested and able to trailer her away before summer. I'll be looking for minimum of £350 and best offers above. I'll ebay too if need. As for some £350 ~ £500 is nothing. But for me that's a whole lot of roof over my head in very lean times. I've not been on here for years. Sorry if i've broken all decorums or make mistakes. But she's too lush to Scrap. And too lush to leave in a lock up any more. Who's gonna be her new hero?! More details next week. Get in touch though. I'll check daily if pos. Happy Easter Folks! #:-D

Hiya,
So Summer went mental. And the 480 was forgotten again. Still....at least i fixed the boat and got my 93yr old mum smiling again.
I have to sell, scrap or get this old car of mine, in a garage 8 years i think, now shifted.
I went and saw it yesterday. Its SORN. Its lights and electrics flip up and work. kind of. It turns over. but wont start. Inside is okayish. Its beautiful But needs TLC and work i have no doubt to pass an MOT.
Its near Whitstable. Bodywork not too bad. Clutch maybe ON its last legs. Computer is unreliable city. Yet it turns over. And still may be ok.
But its still too good to scrap. And Rather not. Must be worth £200 - £300 for parts i guess? I'm skint. And keen to find a home. No idea how to post pics yet. But i will. Please do chase or email me... nice one. i'll try again on here tomorrow. Thanks all. I'm still trying to find out how to attach pics. The cars not in that bad a state. Too good to scrap. Someone get in touch eh so I know this site still works please. Thanks all... :)

Im not on Whattsapp. I have email and phone. Hope someone is interested. Its going to be chomped into a small metal box within a fortnight if noone saves it. I cant. Sorry. I've things on that are bigger than the car. And the garage is no more. cheers

Hi,
If you scrap it, I need an instrument cluster with red and yellow plugs, a rotary switch, a throttle body air duct.
What's the serial number of the ECU, please?

Perhaps I ought have said at the start.. I'm looking to sell or scrap the car as one unit.
I don't know about the ECU. The lock-up is a way away from me. It's a bit of a mission for me getting the car in and out. I may be able to find out. If I can I will. Life's bigger things are now at the fore for me.Truth is, I'm not too sure how to even find that out numbers .Perhaps I ought have said at the start, I only realistically have time now to sell (or scrap) the entire car as a whole. I'm not taking bits off etc. I'll see if I can get a mate to put some images from last week on Facebook marketplace. And if so will include a link. If that's possible. peter

Next week if anyone can arrange a viewing / pick up / sale from CT5 I may have time. £350 will do. That's what scrap have offered me. Damn shame. I know. Don't berate me. Life's tricky sometimes. Hi - Thanks for reply. I could not take on the whole car. Hope you can find someone willing to rescue it.

Headlights dismantle quite easily, but motors often develop a dead spot which causes them to park in random positions. I've got several like that already! Pulling a motor apart is more of a job, but I may have to attempt it, and clean it up.

Hope you can get your life back on track. It can throw up some weird stuff - I know from experience.
Good luck - Dave

Well get in touch with me if you are interested in buying or saving her... Private message I guess. I'm not too savvy on forum. One key by the way. And I have paperwork. Fiddly getting in and out of garage. So need to be genuinely interested William.... I hope you are!

Unfortunately being a student (I am currently at university accommodation) I am not in a position to buy the whole car for rescue or indeed spares. I would be interested in coming to view the car anyway if you’d like (I’d turn up in my own 480!)

If you end up deciding to scrap the car due no interest, I would be more than happy to give you an offer on various parts and pick them up in person if easier.

If you turn up in a running one, just as I sell mine, ahhh too much..

Pathos Pedro I'll forever be known. Still...PMessage Will me so can maybe arrange. By all means. Glad to hear you're still loving yours! Respect. So all...I'm flogging scrapping the car before/on 14th Oct folks. Purchase/Collection that day or before latest. It's on Facebook marketplace I believe now. I'm not on FB tho. Mates done it. Tuesday/Wednesday £350 minimum. Higher offers likely. Collect yourselves in or by 14th.Gotta get this done now. :(

Hi, if you still have it i'm interested, 350£ works, you'd just have to keep it for a little bit longer, or agree to have it shipped (I'd cover the costs assuming it starts).
Cheers, LD

This is now listed on the Facebook Volvo480 UK group. Needs to go pronto this beautiful pop up light nightmare. Have a read folks. I won't extend beyond 14th unless someone before then is totally credible and factual about how, when, will collect in very near future. £350 minimum. That's a steal for an enthusiast. See current Facebook listing kindly put up by Will who saw the car last night. And he knew his stuff. Lucky guy in a mint running 480. That's me mainly done on here now. Thanks all.
