It's with a heavy heart that I have listed my 480. I have had a family bereavement and I have to be realistic and admit to myself that I am just not going to get the time for the foreseeable future to either enjoy my 480 or to do the work that it needs to turn it from a great, day to day runner to a really nice example that will be well worth keeping for the long term.

I hope it's not too long before I am able to own another one and to do the trips to the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany that I dreamed about - especially during the pandemic lockdowns.

The Facebook marketplace listing is both full and frank - it sums up the pluses and the minuses. If it was a pile of crap I would not post it here. It's a great runner that does need some work. What 480 doesn't?

Looks a nice car to me, Martin.

Your ad is honest, and it's a 27 year old car so it's not going to be perfect. Sorry to see you having to part with it, but there will be another when the time comes!

Good luck with the sale.

David

Thanks David - I read too many fairytale descriptions of 480s when I was looking for one. I wouldn't do that to someone else. I believe my description is both honest and accurate.

I am in no huge rush to sell and I would like it to go to someone who will look after it and enjoy it. I know that was certainly the case with the previous owners, as I have been in contact with one of them in the past year. He was pleased to hear it's still on the road as he loved the car. As we all know, far too many decent 480 examples have been scrapped in the past 15 years or so - hence their relative rarity now.

One of these days I would love a GT or one of the two tone 480s. That's probably at least a year or two away though now. I hope I can find a good one come that time πŸ™‚

It's going James - quite a few time wasters, but that was to be expected really.

Fortunately I am in no big rush to sell my 480 and I am looking forward to taking it over to the Isle of Wight in a couple of weeks time.
