FOR SALE - Pud the Celebration

Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

FOR SALE - Pud the Celebration

Post by dcwalker » Mon Jan 17, 2022 6:39 pm

As mentioned elsewhere recently, I am sadly putting Pud up for sale. For various reasons she needs to move on.

She is a Celebration in Storm Grey Metallic, number 331/480. Mileage is just over 43,000 and (as far as I can work out, given the existing MOT history and 10 years hiding in a barn) is genuine.

As many of you will know, Pud was originally Rescue Car R2, and was re-homed by me towards the end of 2019. She has had a lot of work done to her and general tlc lavished upon her here at the Pamper Parlour - full details can be seen in her threads here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=36210

and here:viewtopic.php?f=19&t=36282

There is little to add to what those two threads contain; key information from a buyer's point of view is that Pud has been almost fully sorted out bar her back bumper (which can certainly be lived with as-is, but if you're seeking perfection then it needs sorting). Crucially, she has rust-free original rear arches. She went straight through her last MOT with no problems and so has a clean MOT valid until 1st November 2022. It goes without saying that she drives and runs very nicely; following her slumbers the use I have made of her over the last year or so has fully woken everything up again.

In terms of extras I have added, the mud-flaps, Volvo mats, auxiliary gauges and (assuming a buyer wants it) boot mounted cd changer are all staying with the car. I am keeping the fire extinguisher and the cup-holder arm-rest; the next project will probably want them!

I will get better photos when better weather here allows (including interior shots); meanwhile the last ones I took around the outside follow this post.

I have thought long and hard about the price: there are a lot of dreamers out there selling cars, but even so values do appear to be increasing. Given that Pud is in very good shape, and looking at the others on the market and trying to compare I am looking for £3,000 for her.

In due course I will put her on Car & Classic and perhaps elsewhere, but I want to find her a good home so here is the best place to advertise her to begin with...

Any questions please ask!

David

Lovely car!
Are you definitely going to keep the cup holder armrest? If not I would be willing to pay a good price for it

Apologies, I had to ask :D

 never any harm in asking.

At this point I am definitely keeping it; I only mentioned it because I think I've said it's fitted in one or other of the existing threads and it might appear in photos. The only way it might stay with the car would be as an absolute deal-clincher ;)

So sorry William! But I'll note you as first in the queue should things ever change on that front. Unless, of course, you fancy a £2,000 arm-rest with a £1,000 car still attached...

Ooooo, can I have the £1000 car and you keep the arm rest?

Absolutely LOVE this car. Storm Grey is such a good colour. Whoever gets this is getting a bargain, and frankly I think your under-selling it!

Maybe I should pre-vet any potential buyers....

Thanks Jeff. Your first offer is, of course, very tempting ;) but I'll pass I think...

Your last offer though, definitely - if I'm under-selling it's because I want her to find a good home

And I also know what's (hopefully) replacing it! :hopping:

Working A/C, leather, rot free wings and working electrics? People should be forming an orderly queue right now for the pre-vetting....

Now for the Car And Classic Ad, based on Previous ones,

Do we go along the "recommissioned by legendary 480 specialists" approach, or the "I noes wot I got" line?

Well, that's it, Pud has a nice new owner. Never even got as far as C&C - the grapevine did its thing, I had initial contact with Richard yesterday, and by 9.45 this morning he was smitten...or rather, so more importantly, his young lad was ;).

Anyway, she's only going to be moving to York so chances are I can keep up with her. Richard has already joined the forum too.

Sad to see her go, but delighted to see someone so impressed with her, and happy she's going to be very well looked after.

So, roll on the next project! :D

Thanks all for your positive comments on here, much appreciated.

Well done on the sale David although it’s worth more. Also it’s staying oop North which is fine by me. I dare say I will see the next project on my drive soon. Norm.

Needless to say Pud has had a special place in my heart, if we hadn't had 4 480s of our own, she would have stayed with me.
I'm really pleased to know she is staying close to David and likely to come to more meetings so we don't lose touch with her.
Well done David on finding that special home for a special Celebration.
Now, next project for the Pamper Parlour ........

Hi, Plan to keep you posted with updates about PUD's progress.
My son and me are both already really happy with her.
Not sure me Mrs is, 'so its not a classic car just an old one ?!'.
She looked completely lost when I asked was that because its not pre-1979 with chrome bumpers, like a MGB ?
The kids love the look of the rear seats.
Already thinking of showing her in the York classic car show at the York racecourse on the 18th of September.
Think its 5 pounds per car and free for people to enter.
Will just need to polish the drivers door, sort the leaking boot and smooth off the rear bumper . . . . . and then it will be factory. ;)
Or maybe I wont, either way sorted.
Cheers, Richard.

Welcome on here Richard - pleased to hear you plan to keep us updated going forward. As I said yesterday, anything I can help you with you gave only to shout.

In any event, I shall be keeping a careful eye from not very far away... ;)

Hope you join us in Pud on some of our meets.

And so that's that :( - Richard and his son Findlay collected Pud this afternoon.

Sad to see her go - with all the time I've spent on her I've become quite attached to her, but I am also very happy that she has found a good new home! :D
