My 22k 480 ES for sale :-(

Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

My 22k 480 ES for sale :-(

Post by tevred turbo » Wed May 12, 2021 9:00 am

Hi Everyone

A few weeks ago I finally managed to buy a beautiful 22k 480 ES H559 OAB - I was planning on sharing lot's of photos, updates and trips in her but during the last couple of weeks our world fell in when told our Mum is terminally ill. I have decided to sell all my cars, bikes and I'm heading home to be there. Car has just sat as I've been back and fourth.

This is such a beautiful 480, rust free, dent free, the carpets and interior like new, an immaculate MOT history and one family ownership. The engine bay and underneath is perfect, the cross member is still a beige colour with factory sticker on it. The sills, arches are perfect also. The fuel flap is a little reluctant to open needing a few attempts and there are just some stone chips on the front nose. The unpainted bumpers are perfect, not faded or marked and the rear lamps are like new, shiny and glossy. The real surprise is driving it, it's tight, smooth with great brakes and lovely gearshift. It's like a new car to drive and night and day from my old 480. Ideally I could keep it but living by the sea it would be risky to leave it for long periods with the salt air getting into the garage without me being here.

The guy I bought it from was a typical dealer asking for £7750 (!!) I was telling him it was too much and after two weeks and phone cals I managed to get it for £5800 (He had renewed tyres, cam belt and service) which given the rarity and low mileage I think it was a fair price, I just had to pay £400 to have it shipped down south. I am a 480 fan so I don't care about making money but I do think in the near future this car will definitely be worth much more. So if anyone is interested please let me know and happy to accept what I paid.

It really is a car that would benefit from being in a garage and as such I think it's too good to be on the street. So if you are interested please let me know on 07732 708249

I have added some photos

Best wishes

Anthony :-)

I am really sorry to hear the bad news about your Mum.

As I’m sure you know most of us have 480s on here but will do all we can to help it’s sale.

If it isn’t sold by the time we have our next meet, bring it and yourself along and it will give it some exposure and also people chatting about it online may help distinguish it from the other 480s for sale to a potential buyer. Of course, it’s condition makes it stand out pretty nicely too!

Hey There!

Thanks I appreciate it.

Sadly I'm going to be running from England to NI a lot now in between hospital visits but I sure can try!

Very best wishes

Anthony :-)

You know NI and Wales haven’t had a mini meet. Maybe Eire one day too!

I am so sorry to hear about what has befallen your family

While it would be nice to get a sale within the club, have you considered Car and Classic auctions? They seem quite good

I am sure I don't need to say that this community will stand by you
Wishing you the very best

Really sorry to hear your bad news; for what it's worth let me say that I think you are doing the right thing in making your family's needs your priority.

As Ben says, this community will doubtless do all it can to offer you its support.

In terms of selling your car, it is always slightly difficult in that the crowd on here is the obvious one to target the car at, but at the same time the crowd on here usually have at least one - and often 2 or 3 - 480s already.

Yours does look a pretty special example and I hope that someone on here who is after a pristine one helps you out here. But I would definitely echo what others have said about casting the net more widely in your efforts to find it a good home.

Good luck, on all fronts!
