Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

Hi Helmert,
I actually just posted on this
There are issues with the car which I can see already, definitely not a top money example
Advert is also pretty rubbish, doesn't really say anything detailed just goes on about how iconic is it really
Looks clean, but I wouldn't buy without seeing it, one would have thought with the situation people would really be trying to write the best descriptions as possible...
Current Jobs to do (23/1/22):
Fix Central Locking
Fix drivers side speaker
Annoying Scratching Squeak
Water leaks
Complete Front O/S rebuild

Oh definitely. The fact that currently pictures apparently "dont do it justice" really does make you think about whats going on. Cant say I have looked much into the history of it yet, as I was more interested in the early AM's when this was still in a price bracket I would even bother looking at

well it has done at LEAST 4000 miles since the photo was taken going by MoT in 2019,.....
Date tested
13 August 2019
PASS
Mileage
78,746 miles
so what did it do from aug 2019 to aug 2020
if around £1000 - £1500 then worth 'looking at', but need to LOOK at it?
I have one in garage unmoved (on public highway) since CeDriC went on the road.......
might be tempted to sell it on once this COVID has ended (not saying I will, just might

Mostly just check out whats for sale for fun at the moment unless something spectacular came up. Currently got my eyes on R1 which might have been mentioned in another thread. Usually have a quick look through for a few cars, and the 480 is one of them so anything I notice I always post on here, as its good to (with the current examples atleast) have a bit of a laugh at the prices people are asking.

(Noticed the 'cherished' 1.7 White 480 has been relisted back to about £3450. Meaning its managed to go up in price, despite still being a bit of a mess.)

this one is actually local to me, so may try to arrange a visit - *cough* I mean an scheduled visit to the chemist to collect essential medicines officer.
Things that worry me:
Lack of recent pictures
Age of pictures - They're from when he bought it; Was that last week, last month or last decade?
You agree to collect once Covid allows; At which point he'll want paying... So why bother even listing it NOW?
Its on my doorstep, yet I've never seen it; Not at events, not driving around, nothing.

"The dashboard has been serviced with the electrionics being serviced by the only Volvo 480 electronic specialist in Holland."
I can't remember having service the "electrionics" of this one, but I'm not living in either province of Holland in The Netherlands (there's a North and South Holland), so that must have been someone else.

Hey Alan, I'm not offended in any way, I think you may have misread my post when I tried to be funny but clearly failed I was merely implying that a Scottish person might be upset at being called English. My family is historically Scottish and I'm from the north of England so I don't identify much with traditional English any way!

If you really want to hurt a Limburger (from the southernmost province of The Netherlands), call him or her a Hollander.
The 480 was built in the province of Limburg. Limburgers don't feel they're part of Holland, because they are so different from them, in fact, everything looks different in Limburg as compared to Holland. The two Holland provinces are flat and next to the seaside, Limburg has hills, it's got the only stretch of motorway in the country with an extra lane uphill for slow trucks. In Limburg, especially in the south, they speak Limburgish dialect which has tonality like Swedish and even has some different grammar in local variations. They feel more related to Germans in the Aachen and Cologne area than the Dutch near the coastline, where unfortunately for them the legislative seat of the country is located and political decisions are made. After cessation of Belgium in 1839, it was kept in The Netherlands because of the coal mines. And when the coal mines were closed in the 1960s, employment was created... by setting up a car factory! Many of the factory workers were ex coal miners. They see DAF and the NedCar-built Volvos as part of their heritage. When I picked up my blue 480 in the south, I stopped at a store to buy coolant (because it needed some...) and an old man walked by, said to me in the typical Limburgish singing voice:
"Oh... that's an old one. I used to work on those, you know!"

well I wasn't 100% certain one way or the other, glad no offence given, none intended.....
see how easy it is to 'misread' the same line of text.
back to the subject in hand, has anybody made an offer?? (at that price)

you mean > 1 in 20 gradient?
Last time I was in NL was Arnham, it had a few hills, previously around the 'Mekermeer' I went with the Navy , reckoned it was nice so the next year I took better half on holidays for two weeks, just a day here and there wherever we could find a room for the next day!!! cracking heritage/fishing museum, good job couldn't read as would have taken three times as long to get around it, for those in NE (of England) think Beamish..
