I'm lost now. Is this a recent or regular listing? There have been a fair few of late, I'm losing track. :bla:

Many mentions of 'Corrosion to o/s/f jacking point' but other things more fixable/expected on MOTs.

 I know what you mean - it's all getting confusing, between the ones for sale and the ongoing projects!

Definitely seen this one already; sure we had a bit of a chat about it...I'll get searching ;)

Found it - viewtopic.php?f=7&t=36278

I think we were all a bit under-whelmed...

Based on the photos, I have seen worse but the change in the cubby, the manky heater control button, and the amount of reference in the MOT history to various parts of the braking system all say "not properly cared for" to me. Random descriptions of car model suggest seller out for a quick buck, doesn't know the cars.

The corrosion to front jacking point appears a regular advisory - presumably it's not been getting any worse? But why has no effort been made to fix it?

Front splitter intact, decent enough looking rear lights, the rear seats don't look bad for GT upholstery but how are the fronts? Would really need to see it to comment much further...

Did the 1.7 slip past you then? Sorry if so, you seemed to have your heart set on it.

Certainly you'd be getting a lot more for your money with a GT...

Thinking back to your earlier comments about engine size and insurance, though, don't forget the GT is a 2.0I.

Good luck whatever!

it's available, but there was rust on the wheel arches and £2500 at that point was too much for even me

Ah...did you get to physically see it? Be interesting for others possibly interested yo know how bad the rust is.

Almost all 480s now are found to have some rust in their rear arches - it was their weakest spot by miles. The question, therefore, tends not to be "is there rust" but rather "is it retrievable or is it too far gone?".

A tip - look for whether the clear stone-chip sticky panel is still present in front of the arch. If missing it means the arch has been replaced/repaired, so at least then its just a case of checking that workmanship...

Good luck!

Wheel arches on the S look really encouraging, rust looks quite minor so a bodyshop job to sort that out shouldn't cost too much. Don't like the studs holding the door card together tho. I can see why he's priced it high but to me it's more like £1500.

Any pictures of the GT ?

I'll get some Friday, but I'm putting a deposit on it so it won't help anyone!

Well done!

Pleased you've ended up with the GT rather than the S - better equipped and a limited special edition to boot (there were only 250 GTs).

Look forward to seeing some pictures! :D

Congrats on the GT; a lot more car for about the same money as the S!

Looking forward to more pics. Hollar if you want any help, happy to share the process I assess new cars with.
