Done the rounds a few times that has....

3 times in the last year. Last time is was "clutch cable" - now it's clutch!

"interior needs repairing or cleaning" - Not much difference between the two eh?

Interesting paint code for anyone wanting to inspect it in person....

'SUD certainly has done the rounds, how difficult is it to repair the clutch? Difficult I assume

Major job but doable - I've just changed the clutch on the 440 and it certainly gave me a task go get my teeth into! And there's a but less room to manoeuvre in the 480. However, no special tools needed beyond hub puller and roll pin punch.

If if needs a new clutch that should be a serious bargaining point - G reg so it might be the earlier smaller turbo clutch, of which there seem to be a few available on Ebay at the moment.

Tempted Ben?

I have had my eye on Sud for years, watching it come and go, I just don't think I want to be dealing with rusty arches at the moment, and while it is my intention to get another 480 at some point, I want to explore some other cars first...

possible without removing the box, just move to N/S and drop the plate.

slacken each bolt and rotate, the clutch cover can slide along the shaft, save on oil all over place, even on ramps?

not a hidden bolt behind testarter, i'd forgotten about it :?

Scumbags...

Half tempted to put a bid on to save it and then go from there, but I just don't have any space to keep it

On behalf of the rescue group, Jeff and I decided that turbos with rusty wheel arches and/or other major problems (clutch in this case) are best left for the Renault vultures. We will strike when a better one comes up, but meanwhile this will be one less scumbag bidding against us.
The policy will possibly be reviewed at a later date but right now we dont have the resources for expensive body jobs and Jeff has more than enough on his hands. R2 failed the mot on brakes - not the sort of thing you can test without insurance. R 1 awaits his attention and R3 has still not arrived due to lack of space. (The seller has a bodyshop with an excellent reputation so I tactfully / tactically booked our Saab in there for new wheel arches and gained some breathing space)
Pleased to say almost all the cars in the French 480 club are turbos. I wonder why ?

Approaching a grand with 15 mins to go. That is so getting its engine removed isn't it. Sad times.

Can we all agree to tel the new owner to FRO when it doesn't run right in his Renault 5?

I hope at least it can be broken for parts, I have been thinking of putting coloured bumpers on mine. I have followed Sud for years, shame to see its story end here...

Of course maybe I am being pessimistic and it is someone who values it who ends up with it...

How about we hunt down any B18FT engined Renault and make a point of buying it, removing the engine and putting it back in a wedge or a 440/60

Ade put an engine back in to an enginless 480 Turbo which I think makes him another forum hero (although he doesn't visit any more, I hear he is still with his 480)!

Is it not the wrong blue between SUD and yours? Is one code 218 and the other 219. I could be wrong though

Maybe with your new found painting skills you could just paint your own bumpers! (sorry.... couldn't resist the friendly dig!) ;)

SUD and mine are both Arctic Blue, your old 87 car was Petrol, As is R3. Petrol blue is perhaps my favourite colour but also my least seen one.

Haha it's fine, I've just been quoted £1800 to get my car sorted bodywork wise and I think doing a bumper recolour might be pushing it a bit.

I think the source of your confusion is because my car is a very early example of when Arctic Blue was offered, being September '88, MY89

Painting non-body coloured bumpers is much more expensive than painting ones that came from the factory with paint. Talk to your body shop but it might not be that much more if you have SUD's bumpers ready to take a bit of paint and install rather than them do all the prep work on your black ones

adding the bumpers into the mix probably wouldn't push it up much further.

Its certainly NOT the sort of thing you want done after the event, as there's the possibility of mis-matched paint.

Do it once, do it right.

I have been thinking about that, but if I were to do them I would probably go to the same shop if they do a good job, did the quattro back in the day. I am more worried about getting the wheels right, as I don't know much about those.

How easy is it to change the bumpers on a 480?
