Here we go again...

At least the last couple of Celebrations we discussed for being highly priced did look to be in very good condition etc. Wait until Jeff sees this one...

Martin - I realise now i must have missed a "0" off the end of the price I gave you for Nilani

Hahah

Well done to him for at least trying, but surely specifically calling out to enthusiasts would mean he wants people who know what they are looking at?

With his logic applied, mine would be worth about £4500-5k

And with that awful touch screen as well

Well there can be no helping some...

Yes, I wondered if he even knew about this group, because he really is inviting an onslaught!!

Now I understand, thanks to this chap, how rare these cars are and what even mediocre ones are worth, I'm just waiting for Martin to realise that, of course, he owes me another £9,000 now... ;) ;)

As you say though, Ben, can't blame him for trying! Based on a quick glance over the pictures I reckon if he removes the last "0" from his asking price he won't be too far wide of the mark. Be very interesting to see what happens...

Actually, Jeff's not too far from Bedford - he could go take a look!

Well its reassuring to see that his rear seats have the same discolouration as mine, and that the centre storage bin (rear) is also warped - I'm not alone

Funnily enough, I was busy typing a post!

Brace yourself for £8.5k of inflated shite.

Yes, ladies and Gentlemen, for just £8.5k, you could be the owner of this Volvo 480 ES Sports Estate 1988. Now, I didn't realise such a vehicle existed, but lets say that that, in itself, reveals a lot about our seller....

Apparently this "32 Year Old Beauty" is the "Only One In The UK For Sale"!

Don't worry about those rusty rear arches because "Over the years the rear arches have been done several times as their known to go here. The rest is very clean for its age. I can get them done if my price is met" (because you know, you have to do the several times when you do them properly)

Oh it's also got no MOT.... but he'll put one on it once you've parted with your cash.
"Very minor advisories on Previous MOTs shows how clean it’s been kept "

Minor things like:
"Nearside rear suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded, wheel arch, rear of"
"Nearside outer rear body or chassis has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting it's strength with 30cm of the body mountings"

Looking at his other items, he's a car dealer. Are we taking bets that he's just cleared this off someones drive as scrap?

I'm honestly pleased if prices are going up, but ONLY if the car justifies it. I’d see that heap of s*** as sub £600 car as it stands.

Typical dodgy wannabe "wheeler dealer"

I think they all do it Ben, every one I've had/got has warped a little bit...

I've just been having a bit of a closer look and you're right about the sub-£600 Jeff; the more I look the more I see wrong, making my £850ish suggestion too high. The marks on the rear seats look like mould to me; I bet the whole thing is awash inside.

And btw, where's the coolant gone?

Beginning to think I got the bargain of the century David!
This kind of arm chancery has little to do with keeping the marque going, and rather more to do with being vexatiously avaricious, methinks..

Might get in touch with him and see what he'd offer for Lilani  I daresay he would have to offer north of £5k, based on the valuation of this pile..

I personally find these prices, fictitious or not, quite comforting.....

....as I look at my latest credit card bill for parts

Perhaps it’s £495 for the car and £8000 for the digital clock?

With my desperation for one, I'd half consider that. But if you could take the rear lenses, clock or belt tensioners what would you choose?

It's an 87-88 model - I can assure you that despite what the seller says it won't have pretensioners...didn't fit them until 1993.

I think he means the seat belt holders.

By the way, anyone notice the headlamps are up even with the lights off? and the NS DRL isn't working...

Honestly, the thing is like a car crash - you can't help stare at it.....

Honestly, the evil in me is building...... eBay message asking for more details, let him dig a hole. Willing to pay asking price assuming it’s as good as he says it is, as I missed out on the KGF one (sold for £5k; Explain I’ll be travelling some distance so honesty is expected.

Then turn up and destroy him..

Mine seems to have those (or snapped off bits that look like them)

Oh and the seller just admitted on Facebook that he paid £400 for the car....

Oh, do drop me a message with your address, I'll be most happy to post you a digital clock for postage + beer money. I have one in my car, but to my humble opionion, it clashes with the styling. I have a 1994 (MY 1995) car which has Volvo Broad font everywhere and the clock is in the "old" font, plus it rattles. Should I change my mind, it's only a 20 minute drive to the biggest collection of used 480 parts in the known universe and there's always an electrical problem to fix to one of his cars, so I usually don't pay much for my parts. :)

Seller on eBay has a zero feedback profile for previous sales, but 6 or so other cars listed for sale..

I'm going to make an enquiry (I need a white car to complete my collection......... not!) and ask if he might take a cheeky offer (£4.67)
