ES TT on the 'bay - Genuine Gem or delusions of grandeur?

Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

Wow, that must have been a sight to see? what were the dealer staff reaction when an army of 480 enthusiasts came to pass judgement?
talk about a comprehensive evaluation...
Thankfully there weren’t any salesmen around; just a mechanic who spoke very little English! He did seem bemused by the amount of attention the car got!

Just some further notes....

N/S/R sill looked to have been plated, the inner arches under sealed. Fuel filter (always a good servicing sign) was unchanged and very crusty. Given it was “showroom fresh” things like grubby ventilation knobs do not go down well with me!

It’s not a Bad car, but it’s not a 5k car either.

For me, I’d probably say 1.5k to the right person; there’s still plenty to do on the car.
The level of attention to detail is very impressive, I would have loved to have been there!
Current Jobs to do (23/1/22):
Fix Central Locking
Fix drivers side speaker
Annoying Scratching Squeak
Water leaks
Complete Front O/S rebuild

Where the hell did they get that figure from? I wondered if it was 25% off the original £4995, but that would make it £3746.25... :?

In any event, as you rightly say based on the assessment it received on Saturday, it still isn't worth it!

maybe 3900 sounded better than 4000, then they decided 3896 sounded even more of a bargain !

confesion time, if we are pricing up a 'special' project we used to always do a best guesstimate on costs in round numbers but by the time we'd finished we would always 'massage' the figure so it looked as if we'd done MORE careful analysis, well that was the thought, not sure if anybody believed it

yes selling a house for £299,995 is deemed a better figure than £300,000!!!
