Brilliant James & many thanks Alan - Since I'll have to take out the existing pins anyway I will have a play around with turning them upside down before replacing them with new items from Volvo.

Now, what is the process for taking the pins out - I presume I'll need a drift / punch and a handy assistant to hold the door up..?

Many thanks

Martin
take door off might be best , it ONLY comes off when fully open, couple of small locking screws AFTER disconnecting the wiring.

I took mine off to repair the rusty bottom edges, easier than crawling around

James at a couple of quid that's not bad, didn't think you could still get them!

Hello James,

I've had a good look around online and can only seem to find this part listed by a California based supplier - $1.90 plus sales tax, and $47 postage to the UK :( ! Skandix list them, but say it is a discontinued item. I'd like to try the fix if possible - where would you suggest I look??

All the best!!

Martin

Aha! 'Old school analogue' (ring them up) eh? Sometimes I do lose my connection with the real world, and forget that the internet is not the answer to everything!! I'll let you know how I get on ;)

Cheers!

Hi all, an update on Essex celeb, my recent purchase. The car was trailered up to N Yorks last night and I went to the garage this morning. I am very pleased as it is in even better condition than I thought when I first viewed it. Came complete with original sales docket and brochure and photos of it in sale room, I think it was purchased as ex demo originally. Full service history, 3 keys, a spare original radio/cd cover and 2 Haynes manuals. It is now with the mechanic for cam belt/water pump change and all fluids and full service and I hope to be behind the wheel next week. Now the downside, I wanted to start a thread to tell its story but do not know how to post pictures(it's an age thing) also thinking of naming it TH in honour of previous owner who has cared for it so well. Thoughts anyone?

Posting pictures is "fun"......

So, I tend to use google photo's because
1) I'm a long time user
2) there's no space capacity (OK, allegedly you only get 16GB at "full resolution", however, I've never, ever noticed a difference when using the google compressed versions)

using google photos takes a bit of getting used to; You can either upload every photo from your phone/PC so it acts as backup (and with unlimited space, why wouldn't you?), or choose stuff to upload.

Then, create an Album and share that album publicly. Then add the photos to that album.

Next, view the photo's full screen, right click and select "copy image address". That's the link you then need to pop in between a set of IMG tags (which you get from hitting the little photo icon in the editor)

aye but the phots are on a gmail account, so even though you are apple, you can still access gmail / photos via the safari?

so set up an account ONLY for hosting phots then try it, probably the same with the apple version of the google cloud? (maybe)

little more complicated on an ipad, but in theory, yes.

1) there's an app - So every photo will get uploaded.
2) access the photo's via web-browser - Chrome or safari - https://photos.google.com
3) browse to the shared album /photo, hit the share in the top left of the address bar in chrome (it's a box with an up arrown), or the same icon at the bottom of the safari browser.
4) select copy, then paste that link between your IMG tags

Great meeting you today Norm! The car is definitely a fine example...

I hope Jeff's advice helps you get a thread and pictures up and running for the car, and look forward to meeting up with you again soon😊.

All the best

David

How easy (difficult?!) is it to take a front wing off? I'm not sure why, but since I started trying to re-seat the door, it now fouls the front wing constantly. If the wing (which is now very bent out of shape) was removed, it would be much easier to adjust the door bolts and pins. Any ideas?

I'm beginning to wonder what I've taken on :( Will post a horror story pic later on.

The wing is straight forward.

bolts i think are 10mm and pretty obvious.

What to be careful of is the arch liner. The pozihead screws rust and stick solid.

The ones on my spares car broke trying to remove so and on my own car that were troublesome got grinded off. They are easy to get out when the liner is removed.

The only other thing to watch is you need to loosen the bonnet hinge. there are long bolts and nuts which you can see when the liner is off.

Try not to bend the liner are it isnt very forgiving and will break.

Thanks! Was worried I might have to take the nose cone & bumper off. Will give it a go next weekend.

Hi guys,
Just seen I've been talked about! I'm the green 2.0 owning guitarist from Leeds.
My 480 is currently off the road at my folks over at Market Weighton, so not that far from Easingwold.
It needs a few jobs doing before I can get it MOT'd which I'll be working through over the coming weeks. I'd like to have it ready for the upcoming mini meet but that probably isn't realistic.
It'd be great to hook up with other 480 owners locally.

Good to hear from you again, we met a few times when I lived in leeds(Adel) I was the owner of the white celeb. Now live in Knaresborough and after parting with the celeb and a shed full of spares swore I would not buy another one. Two and a half years later I succumbed to the wedges charms again, so looking forward to driving with a smile on my face and a slimmer wallet!
