This car was supplied new to an RAF Officer who then passed it to his daughter. She then gave it away to a car dealer hoping it would get a good home. They sold it on to the guy I got it off who only had it briefly before falling out of love with it.
I later took it back to the daughter as I had seen the car in Cambridge and she was so delighted to see it again and gave me all the service history and told me how she and her father had loved and cherished the car for all of its life. This was such a lovely day.
It has just passed an MOT (if sale drags on more than a month I will put it through again so it goes with 12 months) and will be sold with this year's major service done and cambelt. I plan on getting this done in the next month.
Ideally, I'd like it to go to a forum member with a garage who can keep it in the manor to which it has became accustomed. (Then, when I change my mind I know who to beg for it back!).
Points to note:
-
- Only corrosion is behind the boot seal on the lip. That's it! Arches, sills and rest of the car are perfect!
- Paint is basically immaculate apart from a bit of lacquer damage (bird poo?) on the bonnet at one point: 6mm circle. No stone chips on the nose or wing mirrors as they've recently been resprayed
- Four Goodyear Efficient Grip tyres with loads of tread left
- 12 month MOT
- Will go serviced (a proper one with ignition bits, etc, not just an oil change!)
- Will go with timing belt and tensioner changed
- Full service history (very detailed and happy to sit and go through it with new owner)
- B18E engine so it is nice and revvy and has all the power Volvo meant it to have (109hp). All other N/A 1.7 can quake in its presence
- Recent new calipers at rear, handbrake cables and bearings
- complete suspension overhaul a few years ago (every bush, link and shock absorber, front arms)
- Whatever it has needed in the time I've had it, it has gotten
- Completely reliable (In the last year, I have woken this car from its slumber in the garage and driven it right up to Scotland and all the way to
- Belgium with no need in my mind other than to check the fluid levels and tyre pressures)
- Mileage is 100,000ish. Indicated 45,000ish but have certified speedo change in service history carefully documenting change date/mileage)
- Front bumper doesn't sit quite right on one side due to broken plastic bracket. Study pictures carefully and you'll see.
- Accelerator pedal going through bulkhead occasionaly sticks a bit. I will fix this before it goes also?
- As far as I know, this is the 3rd oldest on the road in the UK -- the other two being the Launch Cars. This is chassis number 509849.
Any questions, then you can contact me through here. We can then move to telephone calls, visits to the car, etc. I think everyone knows I'm a little mad and obsessed with these cars so feel free to come and kick the tyres and have a 480 chat with me.
Buyer is welcome to keep in touch with me should any little niggles arise as time goes on.
Available for viewing between May 9th and May 30th. If my red project car doesn't pass it's MOT, this car will be coming to the May 12th meet with me.
I don't really need a quick sale, rather the correct owner.
Offered to friends on here first. I'm aware that you've all got 480's but ideally it would stay within our club.
