1991 1.7 ES Auto for Sale

Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

1991 1.7 ES Auto for Sale

Post by ohdearme » Tue May 02, 2017 10:59 am

I have decided to sell my 480 and have two options.

Option 1 – Retest car and fix all MOT needs and advisories and sell for £1350
Option 2 – Sell as is for someone who has the resources to fix for £600 – see MOT history online H812GKX
(I will not split items for parts)

Car is in OX10 between Oxford and Reading

Please see advert I have written below.

Thanks for reading
Trevor

For Sale
Volvo 480 1.7 Auto with 37,000 miles and will have a full 12 months MOT.

After a short spell of ownership and a huge amount of work to improve this fabulous little car, I am afraid that I am not “feeling the 480 love”, I think I am more of an old English car person.

While others have modified their cars, this one has been kept completely original and even still has the Volvo radio/cassette player fitted as standard when new. It is good fun to drive or to show at local rallies, people love the originality.

Previous Ownership
According to the V5 the car has had two previous owners. Included is the original Invoice to the first owner Dr Sherman also included are the original Handbooks and Brochure plus a Haynes Manual

Work Completed since August 2016 – My Ownership
Major service
Cambelt changed
New tyre(s)
New Battery
New Windscreen
New MOT will expire May 2018
Total Invoices – almost £1000

Plus
This car was resprayed by a friend in March 2017 (good result, but obviously not showroom).
The cars brains the info centre, speedometer and associated dashboard electronics were completely rebuilt by Brinkie (Robert Brink) in April 2017.

Spare Parts
Included in the sale are many spare parts which you may want to keep (or sell) in case you need them. These include: car cover; front lights; rear os light; rubber seals; original door trim; relays; boot covers; air filters; gaskets; various internal switches and more.

Mileage Records
There is a gap in records between December 1995 and June 2006 and a mileage gap of 17,882. Between registration on 8 March 1991 and Dec 1995 the car did an average of about 2,500 miles per year according to the service book. In the missing period, if the mileage is to believed, the car would have continued to do about 2000 miles per year. Since June 2006 as shown on the MOT history the car has only covered 4,500 miles, so an average of 400 miles per year. This satisfied me that beyond reasonable doubt the mileage is likely to be correct.

Lots of photos now online. The photos without the number plates are after the respray. Obviously car is a lot tidier than when originally bought.

Congrats on the quick sale mate! And you've done a great job saving this car from oblivion. Hope its new owner will finish what you started. Best of luck with the old English cars, they surely have their charm (and their fair share of quirks, especially with Lucas electrics :P)
