1995 Celebration
I am struggling with this but it has to go!
My 1995 Celebration:
Mileage: approx 100k
Colour: black metallic
Bodywork: Very very good
All the usual extras but has a standard cassette radio and not the CD player.
Uprated speakers all round with amplifier booster in door that I have not wired in.
Whats new and good:
MOT Dec 2004
New tyres
ABS sensor replaced
New wipers
New temperature sensor on radiator
New distributor
Full four wheel tracking and balancing carried out.
New/reconditioned gearbox and clutch
New front wheel bearings
Bumpers resprayed (professionally)
New front spoiler
PDI check before I bought it via local Volvo dealer.
Set of plastic floor mats. Ugly but great for protecting the car when the weather is bad.
Whats different
I removed all the faulty problematic with these cars electronics ie remote locking system and associated alarm that works with it. Note that the central locking still works.
Whats bad
Not a lot really. The biggest and most expensive hose went recently but that is now replaced so guess that is a plus point. Cost me about £50.
Why
Difficult to explain. This is the fourth 480 I bought inside a year and of all of them it is fantastic. I have loved it with a passion but I guess even as a fun car it is just that little bit too small. I am not sure if telling you what I have replaced it with will get me a lot of boos or not but here goes. 1998 Rover 820 Vitesse Turbo Coupe. One of the last made and the best 800 ever made. A lot larger you will agree.
Price
Well if no one goes for it from here I am going to put it on the market for £1695 in a few days. Since buying it at the end of October 2003 it has cost me about £2,000 to buy and sort out. So someone is going to be lucky.
On this site I am asking for £1,450. An even better bargain.
I cannot believe that I do not have any pictures of this car but will take some over the next couple of days. Anyone interested send me an email and I will email piccys back.
Regards
Chris

must be breakin your heart selling it!
i'm gonna buy a lottery ticket today so i'll let you know tomorrow how it goes!!
we used to have a P reg rover 800 sterling as a company car at work. it was ok,nothing outstanding but the whole engine needed replaced (just out of warranty) as it totally seized up, cost thousands to get it fixed and when they went to sell the car it wasnt worth a kick up the arse!!
apparently the turbo ones are pretty damn quick tho!

Hi Murf,
Good luck on the lottery. I hope if you win your cheque to me will be bigger!!!
You are right about the 800 in every aspect. I have had a lot of them over the years and worked for Rover as a salesman when the 800 was launched. How we managed to sell against stiff opposition just shows how good we where!!
The Vitesse Turbo Coupe with the Rover 2 litre engine was a last ditch effort at getting it right. The Sterling Coupe which came out first was made for the American market but never made it there due to problems in the USA, was a total flop. The engine was too heavy and they used the standard suspension and steering components of the 800 so it wallowed around corners. The Vitesse on the other hand had a complete overhaul of suspension and steering and it grips the road superbly.
Performance is amazing for a standard car 0 - 62mph in 7 seconds. It appears Rover got it right but as history has shown just a bit too late. I thought it worth buying one before the price starts going up. But then again it may not as they have such a bad reputation. Mine is the white gold with light tan interior which is the colour set up I wanted.
Regards

This plate has been missing for some time. I have had the car checked by Volvo and spoken to the second owner to confirm what is obvious that the car is a Celebration. There are a number of features that where just not available on any other car in the range.
Sadly I have been unable to confirm which number it is but for sure it is one of 480!!!
I have the Celebration brochure that gives all the info you need but will be unable to email it to you unless you respond to me with an email address before 15:30 as I am offffff

Hi Back from a couple of days away, straight back to an informal gathering around the jacuzzi last night. Oooh my head, got to get ready for work now!!
Anyway in answer to the queries, yes it says Celebration on the log book.
And Martin this is the last 480 which I am about to sell, but as you can see from the thread I have been very lazy. I replaced it with this a couple of months back:
http://volcano.photobucket.com/albums/v ... 8_Comp.jpg
http://volcano.photobucket.com/albums/v ... 9_Comp.jpg
However I have a lot of spares from the one we scrapped. Complete Turbo engine and gearbox. Doors, wings boot etc etc.
Regards
Chris
