480es light blue 1990 f/s breaking?

Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

480es - dad has retired so mam don't need her second car (golf tdi cheaper to run!) good bits? superb engine (90k miles super clean oil/no idle probs/rattles/smoke etc) brand new susp. bilstein all round shox/springs (car not really used since) bad bits usual rust (bubbles in front of front wheels/door bottom) stiff clutch cable, pulls to left when clutch pressed (badly fitted ball joint?) I want it for resto (its a classic + mam loves it) but girl/f wants new kitchen? women. :(

DeLorean - I'll take a look today I promise, but I know for sure the rear wiper plastic cover is missing (cos I broke it!) and it doesn't have the drinks holder. The rest I'll get back on but prices will be super cheap gotta keep 480's on the road.

And 480 is located at Chester-Le-Street (7 miles south of Newcastle (1/2 mile from A1 motorway.) Excuse to take your girls metro centre shopping?

Come on, you're not going to kill a 480 that can be rescued because the woman wants a new kitchen? I would tell her she can cook on the engine while it's running!

All you scavengers, just hoping for a 480 to die to get new parts... ;)

But seriously, it wouldn't be possible to talk you out of wrecking such a beauty? Just look at her, looks cooler than a modern Focus or Golf or whatever, from a styling point of view.

Coyote is right,

I nearly gave up on my 480, I am so glad I didn't.
Rebuild it!, Rebuild it! You have a wealth of resorces right here on the forum. It seems you have no electrical niggles, and that the stuff you do have wrong will be easy to fix (little expense), besides, it is the best colour ;)

480 es breaking

Post by Pop's » Mon Mar 08, 2004 10:38 pm

I must apologise for not restoring 480 myself but I have 4 cars (3 actually one's the girls) I bought a new house which got flooded (I'm living in with parents for now(worse still her parents on a weekend!) :? ) it needs more rebuilding than any car I've owned, I gotta work for a living and I'm a two night per week student! Sorry guys just no time. You gotta believe it was pretty difficult keeping hold of the two spare cars I got! I run an MX-5 for work (old one!) got a Mk1 golf gti (hasn't moved for a year) and a Sunbeam Lotus (hasn't run for 5!) and the girl keeps asking what you need them for!! I always wanted a 480 too and got mam to get one!!! so seeing it broken isn't fun at all, but a good one maybe cheaper than resto in the long run (especially a nice celebration model!(can I sneak one past the girl?)) :?

Car has done 82K not 90K and I'll get sorted at the weekend as to what bits are worth having (previous mails noted - don't worry your names are on the parts!) I'd love the whole car to go though! can't do free cos just spent a couple of hundred on susp! but can do nearly free!

lotus sunbeam, they are well smart!! Dont give in and dont feel you have to give excuses, girls tend to not understand cars and how heart rending it is getting rid of them!!
i know how you feel though, i have 2 480's and a mk2 Escort and i get plenty abuse about them all from my parents/everyone!

if its not already gone i wouldnt mind taking the passenger side central locking motor off your hands (small black box with 3? wires coming out). if the rear clusters are not faded i would consider them too,do you have a picture of them?
i will pay of course!!
cheers

Cheers Murf, the girl knows its her out before the sunbeam so as long as I got her I got the sunbeam. Previous girls never saw it that way!!! 32 still not married! :D

I'm sure the clusters will be a bit faded cos they're originals and its a 1990.

I'll get some pics sorted out and email em to anyone still interested in parts but you'll have to wait till weekend, work unfortunately.

p.s. Murf, Mk2's class.
