Silver '92 Turbo Worth Saving (480 CLUB MEMEBER BEEN TO VIEW

Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

Silver '92 Turbo Worth Saving (480 CLUB MEMEBER BEEN TO VIEW

This is hidden away in ebay under parts not cars and looks save-able. Ends 3rd April, 2252.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat just for the colour.

Okay, I've slightly shot myself in the foot here as I decided I was interested in the car after posting it on here. I went to see it today and thought I'd post about here. I have decided that I would save the car and I will bid but would rather be outbid by an informed member on here than some scavenger buying it just to pull the engine out for some horrific project (this really pisses me off!)

The car is complete and as the guy selling it for his brother seemed pretty sound I believe him when he says it was driven into the garage. I am sure the starter is just stuck but I didn't take a hammer and fresh petrol to try.

The main thing I was worried about was bodywork, i.e. arches as it was driven into the shed 6 years ago so mechanically I'd have confidence in it . Basically, they're really saveable, with the patch you can see on the picture at the rear of the r/h arch the extent of it. Its small and could be easily repaired to stop it going any further. No where enough material has gone so that you'd have trouble remaking the shape in the 4'' x 2'' (approx.) area. It was probably a stone chip or slight scrape many years ago.

The r/h door has a bit of rust at the bottom. I gave the sills a good smacking and they're solid, including where they meet the arches.

Other than that, obviously I didn't start it but if it drove in I'd be confident of getting it going again. It had a slight oil leak over 6 years, the oil is a little below the min on the dipstick, so thats quite small.

I am well aware that I've shot myself in the foot and may be outbid here but I really think this is a saver for someone on here. Smack started with a hammer, add oil and fuel and you never know how lucky you'd be. I'd say new interior as it really does stink (I have a spare in the lost, minus carpet, so for me this isn't an issue-- if you outbid me and are restoring the car you can have it). Add a good service and you'd have a good 480 Turbo.

We're fighting a loosing battle as engine conversion vultures are willing to pay more as they just need an engine where as we would have to invest money to make a good 480. But what a candidate and in silver, the best colour in my opinion.

Come on guys, lets not loose another one!

Are you winning the car at £180?

Sorry, I am the bidder who forced the price up to £180. I've been looking for a Turbo off and on for a couple of years after selling my previous 2.0es and the wifes 1.7es.
I would have been willing to go up to £250 for it (what with trailer rental and cash to bring back to life) but am happy to let it go to someone who obviously intends to save it, will not bid further.

Best of luck with it,

Mark.

Well I didn't get it. I said I couldn't go over 200 pounds. Hope it went to a good home anyway.

I didn't get it either, I'm afraid I went for this 2 litre instead.

Looks as good as the photos suggest, I've never seen such shiny rear clusters and rust free arches on a 480, mileage is genuine aswell.

New inner CV boot and gearbox oil waiting to be fitted. A few creaks from the back but nothing some new rubber wont sort.
