Hey guys!!
Well I saw a black 480 a few weeks back in Brum and yesterday I saw it arrive in a scrappers. I wanted to make an offer on the whole car so i was asked to come back tomorrow (today). So I did...I offered £150 (fair i thought as it needs some work and has come from a scrappers). Offer was rejected (whic was rediculous as yesaterday it was ready to be depolluted and yet today all of a sudden becos i have shown some interest, they think they can sell it whole!!
Anyway, I am looking for a cheap one for my boyfriends mum as she loves the 480 and i think i disappointed her a little today so i'm feeling bad. I'm not in a hurry as she has to get some money together. Buti f someone has one that they are willing to go for £150 or less (the more local the better but all offers considered) let me know. Condition-ideally fairly good, and must be MOT'd as she needs one for work...else she may end up with an Astra estate!!!!!

Yeh I know abou tax lol!! It doesnt have to have MOT, but if i know the failures i can still consider it. ITs just so his mum can use it straight away.
It'll happen...the scrappy only gave that guy £50 for his with 6 months MOT...wish i'd spoken to him again tho...
I'm not in a hurry and someone may be more than happy to take £150 for it knowing its going to a loving home than accept £50 off a scrappy and see it destroyed.
That guy didnt give a damn cos he was selling for his late father.

I scrapped my white 480 Turbo and got £80. That guy was fleeced.

well, I have an L reg paris blue S with cetus alloys and Jacquard trim but I think this is out of your price range.

what was that thing on Top Gear a couple of years ago where Jeremy Clarkson managed to get an old Volvo 7 series for free from a dealer? Something about them not being able to get scrap value for them so they were giving them away... does that still happen?

Um not sure...but i dont think she would be interested...as i said, she loves the 480, i thought she was just being nice as i have one (most people are!) but she wanted to go and look at the one earlier, and she loves the pop ups! Who doesnt!!

scrap value on cars has gone up due to the cost of metal etc, most places are £100 at least!

...almost anything!!
I was going to break one of my 480s, then was going to make it into a convertible.
Now I'm doing neither. It's in good condition though MOT/tax ran out. Needs a little tlc inside but outside is very good nick. You can have it for £200 after I've sold the wheels. Reason is there are 4 new tyres on and the rims are in great shape. If I can get £100 I'll be happy. If I can sell the number plate too then you can have the car cheaper. I only need £400 back from this car and I can get that by breaking it. Which would be a shame!!
It's a 2 litre with 90000 on the clock. Everything works on it and there is no rust in the usual places. The previous lady owner is a friend of mine.

If I can sell the number plate too then you can have the car cheaper
The car has to be legal (MOT) for you to be able to sell the number plate you may find.
Also my offer of recovery are always available

Really? I thought you just neede to prove you owned the car and you had full docs. One trader just wanted to know I had the V5 and the car was honest (all the chassis number pates). The car is SORNed so why would it need an MOT to flog the plate?
If that was required and the plate was valuable enough then surely vendors would put MOT's on and pass the cost on to buyers.
Suppose I owned a seriously sought after plate and crashed the car on the day the MOT ran out. Would an interested party need the car to be MOT'd? Surely not!!

apparently, with china having its industrial revolution at the mo, prices for scrap steel have sky rocketed and dealers can get about 400 quid for a car. shame really, no more cheap bargains
