FOR SALE - My 480 Turbo
For Sale: My 480 Turbo with a full years MOT
The time has come for me to move on to pastures new, I've got quite attached to my 480 and I'm sure I will own another one at some time in the future but for now its time for a change. As of the first week in May my work is moving to a new office in the city centre with no parking, so the decision has pretty much been made for me that from now on I will be going on my bike. If I was going to use it then I would be keeping the car but I hardly get to drive it as it is.
I've owned the car for just over 2 years, and have expended a lot of time and effort (and money!) to keep it running as well as it does today.
It has had recently:
New exhaust (everything from cat back)
New front disks
New front pads
New Dist cap & rotor arm
New crank position sensor
And also in my ownership:
New starter motor
New clutch
New cv joint boots
New speedometer sensor
New braided stainless steel turbo oil feed line
New volvo replacement turbo oil drain hose
New rear brake lines
Oil and filter changed every 4-6k miles
Replacement gearbox
Replacement aux water pump
Replacement ignition coil
Replacement brake master cylinder
Just before I got it the car had:
Both rear calipers replaced
New handbrake cables
New timing belt etc.
Now the pics!
The car also has
MOT untill 22/04/09 (12 months!) and the mileage is currently about 114k.
Almost NO rust, I bought it from the south of england and it shows that it hasnt lived a life on salty scottish roads
a nice half leather interior, in pretty good condition
a volvo option momo wheel (rare!)
the excellent 'richmod' ecu (hard to get!)
a fully working info centre
fully working pop-up lights
digital clock/timer (cool!)
an mp3 cd player/radio (with sub and amp in the boot)
boot load cover
front tyres are toyo proxes
on the rear are one yokohama and one cheapo (the matching yoko just got a nail in it grr!)
it has 4 atlas alloys in nice condition (one needs swapping due to aforementioned nail but i'm going to do this in the next few days so please ignore the rat wheel in the pic)
The car drives really well, always boosts nicely with a fair surge of acceleration if you need it. It uses no oil and I always run it on v-power. It can be quite economical, driving sensibly a motorway run will approach 40mpg (my record is a run of about 85 miles of mixed driving reading out 44.6mpg average) but this all depends on how heavy your right foot is, either way its not likely to go much below 30mpg unless you are the stig!
the paintwork is not the best ever, due to the age of the car and the fact that its red there are a few blemishes. I ground away a small patch of rust from the drivers side rear arch, so the paint doesnt match here (but its better than the rust taking hold!) and someone before me has tryed to re-spray the roof, badly.
There are coutless other little bits and bobs i've replaced and im bound to have forgotten something, but i'm making every effort to be as honest as possible.
The known bad bits are:
missing front spoiler (available from lee for a good price)
cracked dash surround (like almost all 480's)
radio ariel doesn't fully retract
None of these things detract from the car (as you can see in the pics) it still looks very good for the age that it is now. Anyone who wants to come and have a look/test drive is more than welcome, just get in touch (pm or email me).
I'll even throw in my haynes manual, and a standard airbox if the cone filter isn't to your taste.
Thanks for looking, any questions or more pics required just let me know.

Hi Owen,
Hope the sale goes well.
I'm replying simply because - by complete coincidence - I've just read the piece you wrote on the 480 on 'Ciao' website. I think you captured the feel of owning/driving a 480 perfectly. Particularly liked it 'bringing a smile to your face'. That's waht my 480s have always done for me.
Hope you come back to the fold one day.
Be lucky!

Now SOLD!
Have to say the finishing price wasn't quite what I was hoping for, such is the way with ebay i suppose.
The good news is that its gone to a very friendly new owner, Kevin, who I hope will enjoy her as much as I did, and i hope also will make himself known here.
It was VERY hard to watch her drive away for the last time, my 480 was the first car i owned, and i really did feel an attachment to her, but i have to admit it isn't very practical for me to pay so much to have a car sitting outside that i hardly use, so for now it had to be.
Surprisingly emotional!!

Yup ... i'm with you there ... still, now you have the joys of being car-less, but with the perks of never having to count the beers!owen080808 wrote: It was VERY hard to watch her drive away for the last time
the week after i sold my 480 i had an idle minute and thought "there must be something i need to do on the car", then there was a smile as i remembered i didn't have a car, then the realisation that I couldn't go anywhere with my new found spare time as i didn't have a car to take me there!
