FOR SALE - On Ebay - 1995 480 turbo - d.green

Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

Looks interesting, although mileage sounds bit hit or miss.

Hmmm....he doesn't sound very confident. How can he know the boost is ok after only going 30 mph down the road??!! Alarm bells ring when the seller seems very defensive about him/herself, might just me, but if you are going to sell a car on ebay, you damn well find out ALL about it so you don't sound so vague!! Maybe it is a good buy, but you really want to feel confident that it is worth checking out, and that discription sure don't make you feel confident!

Defensive buyers put me off bidding on cars. I also won't bid on a car if the seller expects a deposit within 24 hours, the last thing I want is to turn up and find that something described as being immaculate is actually a shit tip and I've already handed over £50 or £100 with very little chance of getting it back.

'Defensive buyers put me off bidding on cars'

I e-mailed the chap. I told him to get an MOT and tax, and he could sell for around £1000. He basically e-mailed me back just insulting me.

No surprise it has no bids.

No I'm sorry, I can't reveal that information....

My question - ' Dear davids8408,

Just to let you know, there is no way you will sell this car for this price. If it had MOT & 6 months tax, you would get around £800, but without, and without people knowing that the electronics do definitely work and that the car won't break down because the battery is flat, you'll get £400 at the most.'

His reply - ' When you learn to read and write people may take notice of you! As I said it runs very well. The price is a mater for us and is none of your consern, if you think its to much then don't bid, simple.

It's a wonder how these people expect to sell their stuff for a decent price when they can't even show decency to their prospective buyers.

Yes exactly. I would be first in queue if he said in a polite message that he would get a MOT done to see what problems exist.

That is polite in Norfolk guys!

One of the reasons I once was always moaning about them is their unbelievably invisible manners.

I know Im no pillar of virtue, but that is what most of them are like.No pleases, thankyous or Hellos etc

I hope he gets what the car is worth. He should price it at £400.I did for the Charger and it was a good un.

No I wasn't trying to be rude at all. I saw it was a late Turbo, a car I want, and was just amazed he was selling it without MOT or tax, bearing in mind it 'drove superbly'. His reply was out of order.

the mystery for me is why he can't have a conversation with his son to find out more info about the car... cheeky little typos making him look like a real innocent...

Looks like a nice car..need a Bit more proof that it drives like one!!

Maybe because his son would tell him there are several major faults with it and then he wouldn’t sell it for as much if he did mention the faults

Indeed...can't be that hard to find out some more. I guess you'll get the 'we don't have the time/need quick sale' reply if you ask for more info. It does sound quite a nice car, and i asked, out of interest, if he would put mot and tax on her, but he said he had not got the time to do it, but i was welcome to come and test drive her. Fair enough i thought.

exactamonte!!

the 30 mile an hour flat battery, infowhat?centre, pocket rocket may have to rest in his garden a little longer.

I think 'I'm selling this for my son' is the new 'one old lady owner' line..
