Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

I can never understand why people cover up number plates in sale listings. No personal info can be taken from one, and it looks like you are hiding something with the cars history.

To give these people the benefit of doubt, it's to stop "cloning".

Policing nowadays is heavily based on number plate recognition (ANPR), as is congestion charging, ULEZ and parking. Using someone else's registration plate can save you a lot of money. Until you get caught obviously.

Autotrader therefore becomes a supermarket of other peoples registrations to choose from.

Lets say you had a 2019, Ford Focus Titanium, five door, in light blue metallic. You can dial those features into Autotrader and it will return a list of visually identical cars for number plates you can copy - so some other poor sod gets all the tickets.

Most of the premium clones I examine to ascertain true identity, their "real" counterpart was on a forecourt for sale somewhere.

What risk a 480 poses of being cloned is negligible, but I suspect the thought process is still there.
