1991 Volvo 480S, Halifax, £175

Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

1991 Volvo 480S, Halifax, £175

Time to move my Volvo on...

Model: 480 S
Year: 1991
Mileage: showing 47,000
Tax: March 11
MOT: January 11
Location: Halifax
Price: £450

I bought this in August last year as my winter car, for the sole reason that it has pop-up lights! lol, I've ended up keeping it for over a year now due to one thing and another but now it's time to let it go as I've just aquired another car from my "list" lol

Super reliable and always starts.

The speedo sensor has gone whilst I've had it and I havn't replaced it (only electrical fault I know of), so although it's showing 47,000 miles, it should really be a bit more than that no more than 60 I wouldn't have thought though. Previous owner was an old guy and it hadn't done much whilst he had it. When I got the car it only really needed a little bit of work to make it perfect and it's probably still in that condition now. The arches have been redone at some point, they aren't perfect but will last a while yet, I'll get more detailed photos if anyone wants. Rear lights have slightly faded, this is common on 480s and the boot leaks slightly, although i've never had anything get wet in there, it all drains out as it should.

Interior is very good, other than damage to the driver's bolster. Rear seats seem to have hardly been used!

Whilst I've had it i've replaced one headlamp motor, both electric windows, some switches which were grubby, anti roll bar bushes and the panhard rod. Recently it's had a all new valves and a cylinder head refurb after the timing belt broke on me, luckily on idle so there was no other damage and it's all been checked out. I definately saved it from death, at cost!

Thats all I can think of really, got myself another winter car this year simply because there's so many cars I want to have at some point! My gf was going to have it off me but she can't afford to insure it now due to a change in circumstances. Also, price doesn't include the alloys, they're seperate, I'll include it on original steels.

Thanks for looking, ;D

Alternator isn't working properly so it's not charging.

bump, I think the headgasket I fitted hasn't sat properly, does anyone want to retackle this? I havn't used it since so there'll be no damage to the head. It's just had £300 spent on a refurb'd cylinder head, new valves and such. New window motors, new alternator, new battery, refurbished headlamp motors.
Make me an offer...

People will want to know if the car is driveable . Does it just chug along at 30 mph in 4th or will it survive a drive of 200+ miles along a motorway at a steady 60/70 mph?

Oh is it a 2litre or a 1.7 ?

It drives yeah, just has some water out the rear and is down on power from a standstill. It's a 1.7 too.
