Scottish Mini Meet?

Post by Roo » Thu Jul 07, 2005 9:49 am

How about a mini meet in scotland sometime soon? Say August-ish time? Murf mentioned the idea of a BBQ which Sally also picked up on so how about it? Just a suggestion at the mo, i thought i would test the reaction before suggesting any venues or dates etc. :D

early august is good for me, just one question though, how many people does it need before it becomes a "maxi-meet"??

-great Roo! - yes Murf, Rohan and I have been talking about this, and Ally mentioned he'd maybe be keen to come aswell.

I've been away in darkest deepest Fife  ;) for most of this week with no net connection so hadn't got round to posting about this yet.

What about the 6th and 7th August weekend or the 13th and 14th August weekend? A cruise down to the beach, (possibly Yellowcraigs or John Muir Country Park) for a bit of a tinker and a barbeque, then back to Auld Reekie for a wee partay......hadn't got as far as thinking about the Sunday yet...........there's room for a few folks to stay at mine, and there's free parking around here (the yellow barriers have been removed :D )

I'll do a reconoitre this weekend and post more here. Anyone got anything they'd particularly like to do?

Any other Scots or sasenachs interested in coming? would be good to get an idea of numbers

Which weekend is better?

is Edinburgh/Lothian a good idea?

who am I?

where did I come from?

and where am I going?

I'm definitely coming to any meet within a 100 miles. :-D

Anytime time is good for me as I'm currently a gentleman of leisure. ;-)

If anyone fancies going on a little tour of some back roads I know pretty much everywhere east of the bid E...

Loch Lomond / Callander / West of the big G would also be good for back roads and a barbecue but it is quite far for us east coasties. I lived through that way 'til I went to uni and there's so good roads there too.

sightseeing? driving?

Yeah, we all pay Paul £20, get to rampage his S round the field for 1/2 hour, it gets wrecked, and he gets the money he wanted for it!

@ Rohan  - nice suggestion!.......why don't you 'borrow' Paul's nice green S when he's busy polishing his Celeb,
he'll never notice......til it's whizzing round a muddy field  ........you've got 480 keys......they're bound to fit! ;)

I need to make sure I don't say the 'r' word too loudly......it'll get my car all excited!....I might have a problem holding her back once she gets a smell of wet grass!.........but she will not be doing any more off-roading!!!! I've bought her some new things and am about to get some of her re-sprayed so her brief rally career is OVER.

Hi guys and gal(s), sorry for the slow response, I was down in Cambridgeshire picking up 4000 partridges (how many birds have you picked up in a night? )

Anyway, 6th/7th sounds good to me - I too am on a tight budget, although I'm always happy to spend money on petrol and things for my car (cars are SO much more rewarding than girlfriends) - can't think of any strokes of genius just now, give me a couple of days to think about it - I'm off to Shap, then up to Aberdeen Sunday night - Monday morning so I'll have plenty thinking time (Landrover's are too slow).
