Northampton-Derbys-Yorks Meet 25th ONLY

This one will start with our usual Northampton - Derbyshire run on Saturday followed by a trip around the Yorkshire Dales on Sunday, following much the same route as the Waterfalls meet in March last year.

As always, everyone is welcome to join us for as much of the weekend as suits them. Details to follow very soon, just working out the final touches for this one. Fingers crossed Boris doesn't turn off the light at the end of the tunnel !

Excellent choice! We should be there...

If you want a hand thinking through the Yorkshire Dales part give me a shout - they are one of my favourite stamping grounds! :hopping:

Definitely up for this though it will depend on Susan’s recovery and progress. If you need any help with the Dales route then give me a pm.

Thanks for the offers chaps. However, we went to Leeds last week to collect some windscreens and managed to find self-contained accomodation so we could stay over and drive the waterfalls route kindly supplied by norm57. It was absolutely gorgeous, lots of lovely 480 roads and lots of great places to stop. The problem now is to decide which ones not to go too, otherwise it'll be midnight before we get to our evening meal venue !

Finally got this one sorted, so the itinerary looks like this:

Due to the BTCC at Silverstone the same weekend, hotel prices in Northampton have gone sky high, so Al and I will stay at the Old Stratford Travelodge in Milton Keynes on Friday night. Meeting point will be 5 minutes down the road at the Super Sausage cafe

Saturday:-
9 - 10am Super Sausage Cafe, A5, NN12 7QD

12.00 - 1.30 The Rose & Crown, Brailsford DE6 3DA for lunch (Tissington cafe is outside only now and no marquee for rain)

2.00 - 3.00 Tissington DE6 1RA Pay and Display carpark for photos in front of the lovely old bridge

4.00 - 5.00 Derwent Dam Fairhomes Carpark S33 0BB photos

5.30 - 6.50 Snake Pass (A57) to Woolley Bridge, Glossop then Woodhead Pass

7.00 on The Fairway, Dodworth S75 4LS for evening meal and overnight for those wanting to stay for Sunday
I am currently holding 2 extra rooms, one double and one twin - please let me know if you want one (first come first served)
Price is £69 plus £7.50 per person for breakfast. Cancellation is free up to noon on the day.

Sunday:-

9 am in the carpark for 9.30 departure from The Fairway

10.45 - 11.15 Hotel Rendezvous BD23 2TA coffee

12.00 - 1.30 park in Ashfield Carpark, Settle BD24 9DZ walk to Talbot Arms for lunch

1.30 - 3.00 convoy via Ingleton so we get a good view of the Ribblehead Viaduct on the left (photos too tricky as there is little parking)

3.00 - 3.45 Aysgarth Falls DL8 3TH tea break

4.45 - 5.45 Linton Falls, church and stepping stones BD23 6BG

7.00 on Dower House Hotel, Bond End, Knaresborough HG5 9AL evening meal & overnight stay if require
I’m holding one extra double room at £106 including breakfast - let me know if you’d like it. Free cancellation up
to midnight on 24.9.21

As always, please let me know if you are planning to come for all or part of both/either day so I can keep in touch if anything changes.
Don't worry if you haven't got a 480 to come in, you will still be very welcome.

Just had a look at a rough route for this one (may not be quite right due to guestimates) to see if we can join anywhere. It's a biggie!

We'll be there!

The aim is to run down to Derbyshire and meet you at one of the stops there - probably Tissington...

I hope to be joining at some stage probably at Settle. It depends on the care I can arrange for Sue.I hope we have time to call in at the West Burton waterfall as well as it’s only a short detour from Aysgarth and well worth it.Hoping to come in (Jeff)R3 if the clutch behaves itself. He is looking good thanks to DC’s dedication and time.

Although David (DC Walker) went beyond the call of duty to try to find a solution for Nilani's plumbing problems, unfortunately it appears that we've drawn a blank. As a result it would probably be too risky to try to join in the fun over the weekend, in case the AA repair failed and she was to lose coolant again away from home. It isn't blu-tak by the way, although it does look suspiciously like that...

Image

I'm not sure how to go about replacing this part either - the pipework from the engine block (the one with the now missing bleed valve and blu-tack hat) seems to have a lot of connections... More unobtainium I wonder?

I wonder if the plumbing is shared with other 400 series or even Renault cars?

If I draw a blank with scratting around with scrappers, does anyone have any ideas what other options could be explored?

Martin

We'll join at Tissington then be there for the rest of the weekend :D

Was planning to come in Lily the green GT, but life's busy just now and I doubt I'll have time to retrieve her from my mum's, so it'll probably be Pud again.

Martin, sorry you can't make it. Any 400 with the 2.0 engine will give you the pipe you need - I believe there are a few 440s at Lakes; perhaps if someone is going there they could look for you?

I will still have the car this weekend but I don’t fancy tempting fate seeing as it is technically sold so we won’t be joining unfortunately. The new car needs a job doing so don’t want to push it on such a long haul til that’s sorted.

Look forward to all the pics tho. Have fun. :D

Im going to try and tag on for a few roads at some point, maybe through the peak District, soooo, if you see a white turbo, driving contrary to the highway code, with rusty arches it could be me 😆

I was at Orlando's yesterday, could have bought one there and dropped it in the mail, but it would never have made it in time.
(the good news: PostNL now hands the parcels over to Royal Mail!)

Very good news. The last “partners” were appalling!
