Next meeting

Post by dragonflyjewels » Sat Jun 20, 2020 8:00 pm

Just heard on the radio that hospitality sector might be able to re-open next month if distancing is reduced from 2m to 1m, so of course my thoughts immediately turned to a possible meeting. I'm thinking maybe Derbyshire would be the best run so more of our friends from 'oop north' can hopefully come along. It would also make it easier to relay parts to Jiff's storage assuming that the generous gift is bulkier than can be stored in the surrounding area.
We can but hope......

I may be in.
May not be in a 480 by then though.

May come in the V8 XC90.
My I recommend the Snake Pass?
Mainly because it's my commute and it's pretty hilarious how quickly I can do it in the XC now
"If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical fault!"
Hammers can't fix a 480!!!

You are very welcome in any car, preferably a Volvo, ideally a 480, but ANY car - all you need to be is a 480 fan :D

It's a good day out and Sylvia sorted a good route for it, and yes it includes both Snake and Woodhead passes...

Hope you can join us when the time comes!

I'd love to but In my infinite wisdom I took a weekend job. :( Hopefully I'll be able to get holiday (not allowed to book any until probation is up at the end of Jan though...).

If not, I finish at 3pm so could always pop over for the Saturday evening food. If it's actually on the road/I don't sell it through frustration, of course! I look forward to a lovely spring day with everyone and their cars. :D

Given that there is always a handful of us staying over anyway unless a particular meet happens to be close to home for us, it would be really good to widen the area covered and do a whole weekend. People could join as and when they could, depending on availability and location. For example, the classic Derbyshire Peaks meet could have a further trip up into the Yorkshire Dales added on...

All food for thought - but here's desperately hoping we can do some meets again next year!

Sounds dead boring ! Taking the latest good news into consideration, it looks as though the Torque Volvo 600 might go ahead at the end of June, so I'm thinking perhaps the following weekend, 3-4th July. Rest assured, as soon as we can I'll be organising a 2 day event to celebrate FREEDOM !

I'm all in, but given the rate of reopening in this country run by lobbyists (and then relapsing in a next lockdown probably) it will probably be September before I'm allowed to do anything abroad. :wall:
