Fox and I booked an Air B&B as close to Bruntingthorpe as possible the day they said it was going ahead last year! We're walking alpacas nearby on the Saturday (Christmas gift from a friend!)

So, It's unlikely we'll be able to slip in any group convoy but will make location/# known once in place. Hopefully just find y'all somehow. :)

I'll be attending this - Although based on last year, giving consideration to taking the v70 for reasons of Aircon/auto transmission!

Ooh, I see it is in Bruntingthorpe, middle of the country, at the airfield. Looks like a goer from a Lancashire logistical perspective... just have to persuade Maeve to give me a pass - I could always use the 'just nipping out' line, which is wearing a bit thin, but worth a go! :D

surely sensible to tow the 480 with the 940? saves some petrol? :D

AND it means that you can start the 480 when you arrive

The 940 Cant even pull itself at 60... stick 112-1991-bhp in a 1500+ kg estate and it doesnt do much

plus! it only does 25mpg anyway, and with a 480 on tow and 4 people, tools, luggage etc, i dread to think

Thanks for the replies. Nothing is planned yet, we'll arrange a meet up point somewhere round Bruntingthorpe and then convoy in together. Should be fun I'll keep everyone updated as an when plans get underway. :D

Sounds good I would be up for that. Only thing I would say is meet up a bit further away as last year could see people but it was chaos and couldn't get parked near anyone else, as there was just to many volvos :D.

Cheers Richard

We'll be there as well. Like Edie, we booked accomodation for the night before as soon as we got the date, ours is at the Lutterworth Travelodge.
If anyone wants to meet up at the Travelodge to do a mini-convoy that'd be great. Last year, the Travelodge was full but there was quite a lot of space in the carpark as it's shared with an eatery. Lots of other Volvos were there, from early 1940s ones to the hearse it's owner sleeps in, in a coffin naturally.
There were also 3 or 4 other 480s, including one from Belgium. We'll be aiming to get there reasonably early again, I'd like to have time to walk the lines again on the hunt for Celebrations to add to my list.

Pity we sold the 850 auto, our big estate car is now a Saab 9.5 - the HOT aero. It puts a big smile on Al's face but mine was more of a grimace when I saw the road tax !! So, it'll be 2 480s for us again and they are all manuals. Fingers crossed it's less stressful on the clutch than last year.

Anyone else on here going to this next weekend ? Al and I will be there in our 2 litres this time, just wondering if we could meet up somewhere nearby to convoy.

I would be up for meeting up. Trying to think best place to meet to Convoy in, best place I can think is the designer outlet on the a64 as they have a big car park and not far from Elvington.
If she behaves as battery died yesterday

Batteries rarely die unexpectedly.

Grab a voltmeter and read this

Cheers but I'm sure it's the battery it's lasted 12 years so can't complain. The charger won't put any power into it even when disconnected.

Cheers
Richard

you need an 'old skool' style that shoves 13+V at it regardless, those new fangled ones are too clever and need to sense 10 or 11 Volts before they start :-(
or maybe it has just failed, I had one die on a Montego after it had started the car, must have been the current that blew a cell, nil voltage!!
