Hi Sylvia, will be at the mini meet on the 11th. Hoping to convoy down with David from York and anyone else from oop north who wants to join us. Plan to meet at Tissington and have the whole day and the meal at the Fairway but unable to stay over I'm afraid. Looking forward to meeting everyone and hoping for some fine weather for it

Cheers Norman
Norman - we will definitely convoy down to Tissington! :D Meeting at the A59 junction with the A1 sounds a sensible option for us...

Nigel (Poustie) and Martin Mc - are you coming and do you want to help form our own mini-convoy? If so where would be best to meet? A64 junction with A1 perhaps for Nigel? Martin - you'd be coming across the country, so a bit further down perhaps?

If you'd like to PM me I am happy to take on co-ordinating us...

Sylvia - as you have probably assumed but I notice I haven't actually said, Lee & I will be there for the evening meal but not looking to stay over.

Looking forward to this as usual - seeing everyone again and hopefully meeting more new faces and cars :hopping: Not long now!

David
Hi David.

Yes, we are still coming and would love to go in convoy.
Maybe meet a bit further south though (it's quite along way round to A64 for us and further north) So maybe somewhere around Wakefield? Sculpture park exit? M62 junction? I'm not sure where is best round there.

Looking forward to it

Hello David, Norm and all,

It's a bit touch and go for me getting along to the mini-meet, due to work commitments and some problems getting my dropped door sorted, I'd had a go at trying to re-hang the door, but only succeeded in making it (much!) harder to get in and out of the car. I'm not even sure if it is safe to drive in the current condition, as it takes ages to get the door open from the inside and there is very limited access once it does creak open. I am away next weekend, so it isn't looking like I will get a chance to do any more to solve the issue. Indeed it looks more likely that I will mothball the car once the MOT expires in mid May, until I get the basic jobs done.

If I was a betting man, I'd say there was a Cyril Smith goes hang-gliding chance of making it the mini-meet as things stand, but I still hope I'm able to make it.

I will update again next week.

Cheers!

Sorry to hear this Martin - it sounds as if there may be more to your door problem than at first thought :(

Hope you can get things sorted and back on the road without having to go down the moth-balling route!

All the best

Topped up coolant....
Set off....
idle keeps dropping then increasing in queue then cut out at roundabout.....

Just filling up with fuel and hoping it’s nothing that’s going to have us on the back of a truck by 6pm

As I’ve been double booked, I’ve managed to get a slight compromise so will be joining you all for breakfast!

I’ll also be dropping off a front wing which I hope will be ferried up to Martin MC, probably via someone closer to him than me!

Hope all goes well. It sounds like the throttle position sensor or the idle control valve not quite doing what they should, when they should. ‎‎

Very much looking forward to tomorrow's little meet. It is genuinely one of the highlights of my year.

Not much to report with my car but hoping all goes well with the old girl. Changed the indicator stalk so I can flash people today and apart from that I'm good to go!

Well.....I made it to Northampton anyway! It seemed to settle down once I filled up and ran a little further. Perhaps the shock of new coolant!? I was down to 2 bars on the fuel too...not flashing but did wonder what may be in the bottom of there too... I do love how we all seem to have a never-ending to-do list.

Here's hoping the day went well and that everyone had a fab time. Gutted that I couldn't be there (this year!) but looking forward to seeing the pics :) How many cars were there in the end, what were the highlights and whose wedge won 'wow wheels' & why?(try saying that after 3 G&Ts!)
All the best to everyone !

Just to say I had a great day yesterday at the mini meet. Many thanks to Sylvia and Al for the organization(very smooth) really good to meet everyone and put faces to names. Great to see Nigel and his young family(future 480 owners?). Of course it would not be a wedge if something did not fail, in my case the odometer, but heyho that's life. Look forward to doing another one.

Many thanks Norman

Hi All

Thank you all for a great day. My right leg hurts having that break from my Nanna driving. Never used so much fuel in my life!

Heres a quick video of the cars that were there:

Thanks everyone for another great meet yesterday - thanks especially as always to Sylvia and Al for organising it all :D

Great to see so many 480s together again, and to really feel the enthusiasm there is for the car - we might be fairly few in number but we are clearly a very dedicated following, which hopefully means there will still be 480s around for a good many years to come yet!

Looking forward to the next meet already - Sylvia, where are we going next?

Best wishes all

And here are photos (didn't want to upload here as thought it may be too many!):
Eve, you have some great phtos there. Lovely to meet you, hope to see you again soon.

Also great to meet Norm57 and the Poustie clan along with 2 Celebrations not previously seen at a meet. I hope the mini-Pousties get toy 480s in their Christmas stockings, got to feed the enthusiasm young !!

Lily managed to play up yet again (here's hoping it only comes in 3s). She seems to have blown a turbo hose, probably a connector failed. There were some great sound effects from the turbo but not much performance. Al's under the bonnet at the moment. She also grew dreadlocks out of her exhaust which presumably came from the supposedly empty cat. I think I'm reaping the rewards of her 9 year sleep in the previous owner's garage. At least I came home from Derbyshire at respectable speeds, unlike the tediously slow drag home from last year's Scotland meet.
