......I'm sure a lot of you have heard about the up and coming world record attempt to get as many volvos of all types together at Bruntingthorpe on 31st March 2019. Over 600 Volvo's hopefully will be attending, and the excitement is already building! We at Volvo 480 UK (Facebook group) are organising a cruise, one of many that will be happening across the country. Details will be provided as soon as they are clear. I hope many of our members here will be able to join us either for the cruise and record attempt or just meet up there, we need a strong 480 presence!! ;)

Those interested please reply there!

I would like to come along to that. I worked at Bruntingthorpe on Vulcan XH558 return to flight project with Marshall Aerospace. I also thrashed my 480 Turbo around their test track twice! It was soooooo much fun! That was a really good year of my life!

Count us in for 2 480s - might be able to get my younger son along in his V60 as well.

The Norfolk/Suffolk/Essex VOC branches are organising convoys up to Bruntingthorpe on the day.

Myself and Rod will be organising the convoy from Ipswich. The Norfolk club will be going via King's Lynn and the Essex crowd will be going via the South Mimms services meet-up (that could be one huge M1 convoy!).

We will be bringing 3 480's (my GT and Rod's 2 480 Celebrations - including 89 of 480's old Celebration), so look forward to meeting up with everyone on the day. Not sure what Millsy's plans are for the day, but I'm guessing putting all the 480's together would be cool. Might be the most seen together for some time.

There are some other 480's around our area, so we are trying to get them to come also.

Quick update. Rod is working on 89of480's old Celebration (in foreground of photo below), so it won't get broken. He will use it as his daily driver which is cool. He's keeping his other Celebration for 'best'. How the other half live!

I'll be there!

Technically I could be there twice but Tracy isn't keen on driving either of my volvos!

Excellent. I hope as many as possible can come. There is potentially a large group coming from Belgium, Holland, Sweden and Finland helped along by Bart, who came over for the Chiltern Hills Rally. Obviously early days at the moment but fingers crossed! Not all 480's of course but would be nice to be able to meet up with that group coming from Europe if we can.

I won't be able to make it from Spain. But if ever any Volvo representative would show up, please remind me him when we tried them to remanufacture rear lights and they looked the other side.

I'm looking into possibilities to drive up to the UK and back home in one week-end, but my main concern is the event that is currently scheduled at March 29th 2019, 11pm. Nothing is certain about customs agreements, there could be huge delays at border control. :(

I thought we had a transitional period of 2 years after the first date in which not much would change?

In case anyone planning to go hasn't found it, there is a website www.volvo600.co.uk with all the info and forms that have to be printed off and filled in to take on the day.
We are driving up the day before and staying overnight just in case the motorways are jammed full of Volvos !!

I don't think I'll manage to make this.

However, I'd like to add that I worked at Bruntingthorpe airport about 10 years ago for a summer and took my 480 round the track twice! I stayed at Honeypot Lane Bed & Breakfast in Husbands Bosworth which is pretty close and a very beautiful village. They were so nice to me and the B&B was spotless and of very high quality; I stayed for months, even for a week when they went on holiday! They have rescue donkeys in a field at the bottom of their garden which is a nice bonus. The breakfast was great (and donkey free!).

I'll be heading over on probably the longest drive of all of us...............Coventry.
I think I'm driving over with an XC90 ( I'll be in the 480)and meeting up with the Leicester convoy, but I'm up for a change if it means the 480's go mob handed.

We are staying over the night before in the Travelodge at Lutterworth if any other 480s want to meet us there for a short drive in convoy ?

There is a pub on site which does hot breakfasts so that's where we will be from about 9am until it's time to set off for Bruntingthorpe - normally 15 minutes but the roads might be clogged with Volvos !

Pub details : The Elms, St John's Business Park, Lutterworth LE17 4HB
