Volvo 480 Club Europe

The Scotland meet will be on 11th August. I have booked the evening meal at Cove Bay Hotel, 15 Colsea Rd, Cove Bay, Aberdeen AB12 3NA Phone: 01224 897211

They have accomodation available - I have provisionally booked 1 double room ensuite, one twin beds with shared bathroom and one single ensuite with sea view. All £66 including breakfast and free cancellation up to 10th August. If you would like one, let me know and I'll put your name on the booking. First come, first served, it's only a small hotel but there are others a short drive away.

Al and I will be driving the route next month so more details after that.

The start point will be The Kelpies, Falkirk FK2 7ZT, 9-10am. glasgow jim will be there for a chinwag and to see us off - it will be great to meet him in person.

Al and I went there a few years ago - I parked up and got accosted by a chap who started off with the usual 'haven't seen a 480 for years' then told me he used to work for a wealthy man who collected them - it was his job to go off and pick up the latest aquisitions for the collection. Maybe there is a store of sorned 480's still in Scotland, awaiting the inevitable price rise, or there again maybe it was all a load of bulls*!t.

Lunch will be at The Boathouse, Kinross which is on the shore of Loch Leven. Their menu is online if anyone wants to take a look (pre-ordering is not necessary).

Both as delicious as they looked, so I hope everyone will enjoy their lunch.

We have got provisional permission for a photoshoot at Knockhill racing circuit - just got to check nearer the time that they haven't had a calendar change for the day.
The roads in the whole area around that part of Scotland are great for 480s - not so good as Snake pass but still lots of fun.

also Alan whats your plans for this? i had been thinking on just coming along to the evening meal in cove, be good to meet some new folk but I dont think my 480 is ready for a long-range trip just yet haha!

Well, it looks like small is going to be beautiful for this one. I'm quite surprised I haven't heard from any members in the north of England, I thought there might be a few up there coming along.
In approx 10 days time I will need to know numbers for the visit to Knockhill. There are 4 confirmed cars plus 3 possibles, arthuy, alan 480 and cranna 21. Please could you guys let me know if you are likely to be there by the end of next week. Anyone else who hasn't been in contact but interested in coming for part or all of the day, please give me a shout.

I'm pleased to say that thanks to Rachel, we have a facebook member coming along with his white Celebration - I think it must be the rarest of the 4 Celeb. colours. I shall find out the number, and try to persuade him to join our merry band.

Just to advise that lots of roads around south side of Aberdeen and those leading to COVE have been re-worked due to the new by-pass so best if you 'update' the SATNAV where appropriate

Google maps 'looks' sort of OK, but it seems to have added an extra loop to the satellite image

heading for 'Harbour' on road signs is still best to get you 'towards' correct route!
