2018 meetings

Hello everyone, Happy New Year to you all.
Now Christmas is just a memory, I'm starting to think about meetings for 2018.
Suggestions as follows:
1. repeat of last year's very successful May mobile mini-meet Northampton - Derbyshire Peak District, including the infamous Snake Pass
2. a meet starting somewhere around west London and ending up on the south coast (maybe Southampton way)
3. a Scotland meet starting from Glasgow (hopefully with Glasgow Jim on board, many of us have good cause to be grateful to him) and ending up just south of the Cairngorms. High summer for this one I think.

I am planning to have start and end points where there is overnight accomodation available for those who don't want a long drive each end of an already long day. The meetings will be on Saturdays to make it easier for people who still have to work for a living.

Anyone interested please pm me and let me know which so I can get a feel for possible numbers.

All three sound excellent!

We'll also be able to cross post to facebook as a couple of us are now moderators over on the UK 480 group.

Just a thought..... What about inviting someone like practical classics along? When was the last time you saw a 480 in a magazine?

Possible date for the Derbyshire run is 12th May - if anyone wants to come who can't make the 12th please pm me your availability.

Scotland will be late July or early August - those interested please let me know which Saturdays are good.

Anyone interested in the south coast run ?

cheers

I'm up for all three - the Scotland one might require some endurance but I'll try to make it work. I don't have anything planned that far ahead right now so I'm flexible as far as dates are concerned.

London -> south coast would be interesting. I seem to remember ending up in the Peak District at a meet branded as 'Southern', so what would this one be called?

Does anyone have contact details for Glasgowjim other than via PM ? I'd like to invite him along to the Scotland meet but he still hasn't picked up the pm I sent ages ago.

Greetings Sylvia and all,
I'm up for the Glasgow jaunt and, except for the end of May, any date will do me.
Already booked Wootton Manor for the May meet.
Of course, the future could depend on next week's MOT!
Change of subject.
Can anybody point me to any articles on repairing the aft wheel arches?
Glass-fibre, tin, wattle & daub, mud - all will be considered.
In anticipation - thanks.

I should still be for the 11th August.

My MOT is up late June and other than a small weld I dont think I will need to do much. Bit tight on time but will have a month before the meet to get sorted.

This is your silver car? It was rather short on wheel arches from what I remember! Basically, buy the inner and outer repair panels from Skandix and have someone weld them in and paint them. I think metal panels alone will set you back about £320 as they were about £80 each from what I remember. ‎

Yorkie's post was from March and he no longer has the car.

You're not wrong about the arches though, as well as the boot floor and doors. Hoping it will be saveable when it's time comes though.

Oops! I ready 1 May not 1 Mar! I was a bit confused because I thought you had the car now. Thought maybe he'd bought another one.

That's confirmed then and is of course very good news if you save it! Well done!‎‎

Talking of meetings... This is James with Orlando, I took the picture. We had a very pleasant meeting at the biggest 480 breaker in the known universe.

Orlando was very pleased to meet someone appreciating the early model years and James left with a box full of spare parts.
