Any interest in this one?

21st May

I'll try and take the SS1 and persuade the mrs to take the 480 (or vice versa)

as long as not parked near Cranna then I'm OK as it won't be too 'shabby'

Excellent Idea

Have we got a standard draft about the cars and how many are left so it can be displayed in the windscreen?

Just thinking it can help raise awareness of our rare little motor (and this fine forum!)

Sorry I wouldn't be happy with "hardly a sportscar" and "still not exactly a firecracker" displayed on my windscreen at a show. Why point out its shortcomings?

I'm under no illusions that we drive supercars but I am very happy with the performance of my little B18E and was more than happy with the turbo's I've had in the past. The 480 makes up for its losses in power with amazing handling in my opinion and in what I've read on here over the years.

Also, I am pretty sceptical of 18 480's being on the road and 33 SORN. Howmanyleft is derided as being utter bollocks on other forums I frequent.

All taken onboard - Was just a quick idea pulled together from wikipedia and few other sources. More than happy for us all to come up with something.

The only problem with how many left, is that it relies on endusers (i.e us) to be giving DVLA the correct data. Whilst it's not 100% accurate, its a good indicator. I doubt we'll see 500 forgotten Turbo's suddenly appearing on there !

If we wanted precise data could we do a FOI request to DLVA (Freedom of Information). This would give us an accurate number of all 480s taxed or SORN. It would be good to get a clear picture straight from the horses mouth.

Just a thought.

For info the last years event was 'won' by a diesel powered renault 21 a sit had the smallest PERCENTAGE left 'alive' as in one! (from a build of 40 or 50 000)

from the 'how many left' website it is kinda correct but the SS1 stats are also a bit dubious but the trend shows then going on the road in summer and off road in winter, although the trend is asypmtotic

I do love this part...

If I had to describe my 480 i would simply say "uniquely different" and that is exactly why I chose it.
As for the profile in the press release I was 25-30 with no cash and wanted a 480, now I am 50-55 with cash which I spend on my 480.

sounds a bit like the 'target' market that was for the C30 . . . . .

guys at work rather took the proverbial as i didn't strike them as the 'correct' candidate!

Probably reason I bought 480 was it was quirky, reminded me of the Scimmy and looked quite 'sporty'

probably this thread should be renamed
'why did you buy a 480?'

Anyway are there any takers for Alford's event, or will it just be me (and maybe CRANNA0? it really isnn going to be a 'polisher's paridise', tho some cars are 'mint' , others are, shall we say 'well used' ?

hi folks, i had mine in last year!

hopefully will have it this year but i'm unsure as its going in for a full respray beginning of april so might not make it haha

just to point out that when using how many left you have to be extremely particular on model type as even things such as autos and manuals of the same trim level are split up and recorded seperately

Well

Me and Cranna rocked up, initially Cranna's was two cars away so his shiny paint job didn't show up too badly my attempts at polishing twenty year old red :-)

I have a photo of the two sideby side but no photo-bucket so how to post photo?

Well done boys, getting those 480's out there :hopping: Would have been a bit far for us 'south of the border' lot  Hope you had a good day and the 480's got some love and attention from people...

Do like the removed side strip look. I've just got to work out what to do about the bumper inserts when it comes to paint time!

And that 21 year old paint seems to polish up quite well indeed.

Excellent work chaps!

red polished up OK with colour restorer, (always wear gloves other wise look like an axe-murder taken place); or do you mean Cranna's :-)

Thanks for blocking number plate, but can't see many folk cloning 480s
