2012 Sauerlandmeeting [June 1st to 3rd]

Post by coyote1980 » Wed Apr 04, 2012 4:23 pm

Hey everyone! Spring time is coming, so grab your polish and wax and bring your 480 up to speed again because the 2012 Club Europe meeting is approaching rapidly! This year we have chosen the German Sauerland as the setting for the meeting. Just think about it: nice hilly scenery with valleys and forests, pittoresque towns with tradition German 'Fachwerkhauser' and many man-made reservoir lakes.

The beautiful Sauerland

As you may (or may not) be used to: the meeting is once again a weekend of touring, chatting and getting to know each other. You are welcome to arrive on friday - then you can spent the evening getting familiair with some of the other participants. It's also a nice idea to be in the vicinity of the starting point of the tour on saturday! Yes, we have set out a route of approximately 130 km through the Sauerland. During the drive you are able to enjoy some time off with others (or alone) in one of the villages along the way, or visit one of the sights that we pass. The saturday is concluded with a nice barbecue which you really should not miss. In the evening we can start a campfire (if the weather permits) or retreat to the nearby restaurant/bar where you will find live-music due to the Highland Games taking place on the park that same weekend. The sunday programm is under development - keep an eye on this page, or the meeting page to keep yourself updated.

If you have never participated: do consider it, it's fun being with people that share an interest in this little great Volvo!

Hope you too will be there, discovering the German Sauerland! Image

PS: Don't forget to register for the meeting after clicking here a.s.a.p. when you plan to join! :!:

Hi Guys

Real shame the OWLS wont be able to attend again this year, the 480 is getting nearer to been back on the road, but we shall be on holiday ourselves at this time.
All our best wishes go out to all old friends that will make the trip.

@Suddy: ah...clear. :D
and sure you can bring kids. There is a nice playground for the youngsters with animations and all ;)

@the Owls: That's a pitty...really hoped to shake hands again :cryhard:
That means we have to meet once again on a UK meet ? (like a successor of the skegnes meeting?)
Have a nice holiday :)

I second that, seems like no problemo :)

Yes, it has been way too long, last time we met was the Welsh Bedgelert meet, another UK meeting (next year?) would certainly be awesome... Would love to see Scotland for instance! ;)

Ferry booked!

As always we have a long drive so we are unlikely to make it for the start of the rally...

In all cases, see you there!

Well, everything has been prepared and we're all set to go again! Puzzle-rally, trophies, BBQ, and even a chance of a sunny Saturday in Meschede :D

See you all tomorrow or Saturday morning at the start of the 2012 Club Europe meet 8)

Many thanks to the crew of the Volvo 480 Club Europe for a nice meeting in the Sauerland. ;)
The rally was unique and very nice to drive, there was plenty to see. It was nice to meet old and new faces.

Maybe it works for me in 2013 3 days, who knows. Here are a few pictures, unfortunately I have not done a lot of photos ... :wall:

And here are 2 pictures of Attahöhle Attendorn. Almost everyone at the meeting attended them.

Yes, it was an excellent meeting in my opinion 8) Was a bit nervous about the weather the days before the meeting, but in the end we had a wonderful sunny Saturday!

I have sent all participants an e-mail with the request to upload their pictures to my server, so that we can put the best pictures on the meetingpage - I will also share these pictures on my photo gallery: here :D

Hello,

Many thanks once again to the organisers, we all had a great time - shame that we couldn't make the Friday due to work commitments.

Our stay in our holiday home was extended by two days further, because my alternator failed. I ordered one on Monday, from ATU in Meschede, but had to wait 2 days for it to arrive and paid €200 for it! Lucky that we were still able to use the car to go into Meschede for shopping and beer, otherwise we'd have had a long walk.

I had the tools so I fitted the new one, and by the Wednesday afternoon we were on our way again.

It was great to see familiar and new faces, and we hope to be there for the meeting next year, wherever it may be.
