South Wales meet 2008

Post by Katy-Felicity » Fri Nov 02, 2007 7:48 pm

Hiya everyone! Firstly i'd like to suggest then hopefully organise a South Wales meet for 2008. The meet would be held at my house in the South Wales countryside and held over a weekend. I was looking around May, June or July time as the weather is slightly better then. It'd be tents as I have loads of space, and theres plenty of space for all the cars. There's also plenty of trees and a river (I've seen what you lot get up to on meets :wink: )

Image

(Thats an arial pic of my place) l Would also hide my donor cars too as you're all vultures on here :wink: .
Anyways I'll give more info if people are interested :D It would be awsome to have a meet down here.

There is a pub near but the food is awful, town is only 5ish miles away where theres a lovely pub. also thought a huge bbq come party come drink yourself silly night would go down well on premises (no driving back to tents just crawling back :rofl: )

You are talking my langauge. BBQ sounds great.
Does it rain much in Wales ? :)
If it does won`t matter as we had good training at the Lakes meet.

Sounds good to me! Dates in advance as possible = better for time off work.

I'm up for it.

KF, it looks ideal for camping and barbecuing. I'll bring my gazebo again in case it rains... again.

But just what is that *pink* car at the top of the picture??? :shock:

That is a really old Volvo 245, completely stripped and awaiting scrapping, did you want it ;) .
A gazeebo would be a great idea, as you can never rely on the weather in Wales, Adam will back me up there!
It'd be a great help if a few people could bring a couple of gas bbq's, wh have plenty of gas here, but only have one tiny little bbq.
I'm pleased with the response, glad that a few of you are interested. Keep letting me know though.

Mr & Mrs Dragon (and hound) may attempt a visit, depending on dates. June/July would be better for us.

For those in South Wales, we are holding a karting/meal event in December. Details are in another thread. All are welcome to attend either karting, meal or both!!

<meant in a happy way, not a rant>

I'm considering making a new rule for this forum that bans UK people moaning about how far away other people in the UK are! You have cars, nothing on this Island is *that* far away! Really!

Just jump in and Image

</happyrant>

;)

Some people may not be able to afford the cost of travelling great distance... (just a comment).

Hence the need for adequate planning for meetings - then people know it's happening and have time to save a little and get time off work etc etc. The devil's in the detail when it comes to meet - ask poor old Laserowl and Mrs Laserowl!

Really, I've managed to scrape the money together to go to Brum for a meet at a time when I really was struggling to bring food in etc - mine was an extreme example (was for Lee's wedding), but seriously - if I can do that, then anyone can (given enough notice, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc)

Just my own impression and comment, but once again, really nowhere on this Island is *that* far away if you want to be part of it enough.
Cheers!

from now until the meeting put £5 a week in a jar or something and you'll find you will be able to afford it. I have tried it and it works. My reasons for not coming to the last meeting were work related and not financial.

My first meeting was in Scotland, that was when I was still a Student with a part time job.

Also Katy has 6 480s that need stripping :P

£5 a week! :eek: Your one of the lucky ones. If I ever had that much left over a week it would feel like a lottery win! Wont be at this one, its too far. and i'm not saying that as an excuse because I'm not committed enough, it boils down to distance and cost. I bet if there was a meeting in Aberdeen, nobody from down south would come no matter how 480 crazy they are!
