I've got some bad news... Unfortunately my girlfriend and I won't be able to make it over for the meet.
I've been keeping my eye out for a 245 for a while now and last weekend we flew over to England and bought one. Considering my girlfriends birthday is at the end of this month, and I have two car insurance policies to sort out on the weekend of the meet I'm just too pushed for funds, even going halves with the missus.
I really though I’d be able to make the meet at a push, but I just can’t. I sort of wish I had of booked the ferry back in June now.
On a good note though, my new 245 is brilliant, and yes, the 480 will be staying. I sort of appreciate the 480 now having not been driving it the last week (my girlfriend has been driving it and wants a Richmod Turbo or Celebration now!!), and having just spent a little fortune for servicing and a passed MOT last week, she's going as good as ever. I'm just sorry you guys won't be seeing her now.
So, who's going to be drinking my Pernod and Root Beer?

Holy Iconic-carfest Danman!
Just been checking out the link to Cars and Stars webby on the 1st page - they've got just about every car/vehicle I loved seeing as a kid, fantastic.
We're obviously just going to see the Saints Volvo of course....
Andy and Ally who have been at the last 2 NW 480 meets have jumped into Darrens slot and are heading up with us, still trying to get them to give up the VTR's for a turbo! We'll be heading out of Chester around 3.30/4pm on the Friday hopefully, if anyone is headed up the M56/M6 around then let us know.
9 days to go, can't wait, good work fella!
Stu.

Hope you all have a great meet...goes without saying really
wont be there because this saturday I'm taking my Bike CBT, hopefully will be tootling about the Grampians on my cruiser that weekend
there are things a girl has to to before her 50th birthday and becoming a biker chick is certainly one of them

::: MEET UPDATE :::
Well...
Only 4 days to go and the meet starts. Am i excited? I don't know really. Little nervous as i took it on my shoulders to organise it so just hoping everything goes to plan now...can't help but worry!
I have had a set of rules & regulations sent via email from the site, and also arrival proceedures etc, so i'll get a post up in the next few days so everyone can have a quick read through. I'm responsible for you lot apparently as i made the booking, so i'm making sure there's no trouble!
With regards to eating/drinking/social aspect, i was a little concerned about there just being BBQ facilities, but the campsite have updated their webpage and i've just seen that there is a Resturant/Bar on site, with 'Kendall' (not Rob, unless he's hiding in the bushes) near by-it's a like a small town with shops/pubs etc. But lights out at the campsite is 11pm as it is a 'family' site-but Pub's don't open past then anyway so i can't see that being a problem. You can't drink too much anyway 'cos you won't be able to drive the next day
I'm looking into payment at the moment-the campsit have changed their policy-i was initially planning on paying the whole amount as a lump sum after collecting remaining payments, but it looks like it's a pay on arrival affair, but i will contact the campsite further to this and let everybody know whats going on. I may not be there until nearly 9pm, so i want it to go as smoothly as possible in my absence!
So, when i have the info i'll post iti in the Meet section, and see if VBB can make it sticky for a few days, and i'll PM those concerned with the link.
Anybody wishing to join us on the Saturday for the Cars Of The Stars and convoy are more than welcome, you'll just have to leave your car in the car park outside the site and wander down to meet us.
Anyway-thats my update-get those 480's prepared people! Any further questions just drop me a PM
Oh and just to add...
We need to avoid people dropping out now-we have avoided the non-member discount of £5.80 per head/per night because there are over 10 pitches, but if this drops below 10 then it's going to be an extra £5.80 per head/per night.
Not hostile, just information!

Don't worry Dan, can't go wrong with a bit of camping in the Lakes, even better when all the 480 amigos are there! Everyone paying for their own on arrival sounds easier, especially if your not over til later, are all our pitches together d'ya know?
So what time's everyone else looking to arrive? Think were looking to head off around 4 to be there around 6pm.
Better go check our tent hasn't got any moth holes in it!
Stu.
Re: ::: MEET UPDATE :::
right, well just a head up ... with all those 4x4 owners in the camping and caravaning club we'll have to keep an eye on Rohan (and his boxing gloves)!!Dan the 480 Man wrote: I'm responsible for you lot apparently as i made the booking, so i'm making sure there's no trouble!
Cool, i've not had a curfew since my ASBO expired last month! (only messing!).Dan the 480 Man wrote:But lights out at the campsite is 11pm as it is a 'family' site
Like Murf says, we'll just have to drink twice as fast!
I am! You've done a great job organising it Dan, so i wouldn't worry! Just concentrate on getting that 15th layer of wax on! haha! I agree with Stu, paying on arrival seems like a much easier/better plan, keeps everyone right as well!Dan the 480 Man wrote:Only 4 days to go and the meet starts. Am i excited?

Hi Gayle, welcome to the gang!Gayle wrote:Hey guys, any place on this meet for a newbie ?( in a 480 of course )
You need to PM Dan480 for the latest, though according to his new Windemere thread you will need to book with the campsite direct.
I cancelled my +1 a while ago but they may still let you slip in with the group as a replacement. Tent/pitch space is another mattter though...
Hope you can sort something out,
Rich

Looking forward to finally meeting all of you, i shall be arriving around 6ish with my girlfriend Laura! Am only coming up from Lancaster so shouldnt be to much oppurtunity for breakdowns.
Apologies though for my lack of effort in preparing the 480 for this event, its a little rough round the edges but its still a 480!
