VOLVO 480 UK MAIN MEET 2007 OFF

Post by martinholmesuk » Mon Oct 09, 2006 8:04 pm

Image

Would anyone object to me organising the next 480 meet (UK) ? I would like to make it up for this years crap caused by me. I understand Wayne will not be doing a 2007 meet because other commitments.

correct me if i'm wrong.

I might not fully understand the responsiblilty of taking a meet on but I will bloody well try 'even with my crappy image edits lol' to make it great.

If anyone would like to help then please PM me. What's sort of things would you people like to do next year? I'm thinking summer time for this and no lincs!

That's a great thought Martin and seems wise to plan ahead!
I suppose everyone would need a think about it really...the only immediate thought is to have it somewhere more centrally located than lincs was.

Im happy to help ya mate!

I say "Wales 2-return of Wales"!

That meeting was something else location-wise.

I know its not central and agree with Rohanweedus about this.I think personally that is far more more important.

What is the most central point on the UK map?
The way I see it,viewing the UK map,is if youre coming from Cornwall it'd be Leicstershire. For this I would recommend Rutland for the scenery and top driving roads. If youre based in Scotland Id suggest Yorkshire to be the most central,or equidistant from end to end on the map.

No objections here Mart :D

I wasn't at Wales but what I saw on the pics made me wish I had been! might be a good plan to do another one there, also someone at Lincs (think it was Joolz) mentioned the lake distict as a location, unfortunately neither are central

Peak district possibly? not far off central I suppose

very true ... the lakes would suit the central belts scots well ;) and is great fun to drive in! It is proper hoaching in the summer though!

A good suggestion! Plus, its slightly less 'hoaching' at the end of summer. (presuming the meet is organised for a similar time to the lincs meet.)

I did wonder when i was typing it!

Sorry, i'll give a definition ...

'Hoaching' - [hoach-ing] adjective - crowded, busy, packed, teeming

1. we couldn't get to the bar during the Scotland vs France game because the pub was hoaching with people. :D

Or we could make the meet the begining of summer ... maybe April/May?

if you draw a line from Blackpool to Bridlington that corridor is almost exactly halfway from the south coast to Aberdeen :)

and the furthest outposts for members that I can recall are clubman dan on the south coast with gcf west of him...danorack on the east coast, darren in NI and Roo in Aberdeen...oh and not forgetting our continental chums too!

Sounds good to me. IMO, anywhere in that kind of vicinity would be ideal for people (well a bit less traveling than lincoln for me anyway)

Either that or have a couple of big meets one further south and one further north? I think thats what the VOC do but could be wrong?

Make it a weekend event with loads of road tripping and I'll consider making it over form Northern Ireland, depending on dates! :volvo:

Before Summer (May & June) seem to be an excellent time for organising events as there’s so many other things that happen over July and August it's impossible to squeeze things in (plus ferry prices are sky high! )!

Do you guys ever do Rolling Road day outs?

Perhaps a camping weekend, Rolling Road one day, good blast around some fancy roads the next day.

2007 meet sounds very good. I look at the Wales pics quite regularly-some nice areas around there. Plus ideal photo opportunities-thats one thing i was a bit gutted about Lincs-not enough nice rural locations to get the cars altogether and do some posy shots etc.

I'm up for it, without a doubt-but if we could settle on dates a bit earlier this year that would be a bonus...;) :D

Plus i don't mind the travelling-and if we can all get out in convoy that would be ace-i only got 10 mins of video footage this year :cryhard:

Sounds like a plan! :D

I'm definately up for this one. I'm a student now so don't work weekends (wahoo) and also I am based in Cardiff so North Wales is pretty close!

A little earlier in the year is also preferable :D

Good you know you all love our great country!
Late May/ early June would be a good time to get some decent weather-I'll just have to consult our resident weather forecaster Stu first for the EXACT dates-him and VBB certainly nailed it last time!
For those of you who haven't been here-come and see for yourselves-it's a great place to visit and Hey! some of us are lucky enough to live here all the time!
Right must send off for my commission from the Welsh Tourist Board now!
