ANNOUNCEMENT: webshop finally open!

Post by coyote1980 » Sun Oct 30, 2005 7:50 pm

Woohoo! After weeks of sleepless nights, not being able to focus on the job, not giving the missus enough attention, googling for answers on various small technical problems I ran into, re-writing the logic that calculates the P&P on every order automatically I finally managed to get the webshop up and running!

At the moment there isn't too much in it, but since it's all database driven it won't be hard to add new items! For now we have the clubsticker and the all new 2006 Calendar in it! The polos should follow later this year.

The beauty of a webshop over donations is that everybody wins: the club because it makes a little money, you since you get something in return and the postal delivery guy

I hope the webshop will be a big succes! In case I did make a flaw I didn't find somewhere, please contact me and I will investigate!

For now: happy shopping! :hopping:

You can always view the items in the shop, but keep in mind that you have to be logged in on the website (that's a seperate login than the forum) to be able to purchase objects :)

Indeed, almost every minute of spare time went to this little project :)

It will take a little getting used to (processing orders) but I am anxious to have more stuff made to go into the webshop :D

Yep, that is if you want the sticker on your car

It hasn't been too busy in the shop yet, but that's good as I am winding up getting the production for the calendars underway. After that I will send out a newsletter to all members they can start shopping :D

I've been trying to break it recently, and it seems fairly sturdy, although I now know the site runs on Apache 2.0.5x and runs on RedHat Fedora (yuck!) ;)

Good to hear it has been found pretty sturdy, but I know there are always holes in scripts you use, so if you keep trying you might be able to 'do something', even though I doubt it will be horrendous.

Didn't know about the OS, just that it was some Linux distro combined with Apache and MySQL. Wouldn't know why this setup would be yuck though :)
