Whitelist

Post by levensnevel » Fri Nov 28, 2003 8:11 am

Following the Little Moose Germany initiative to compile a 'whitelist' of workshops which are familiar with our 'Cheese Wedge' I think that we should compile a similar listing for other countries like e.g.
> the Netherlands
> the UK
> Belgium
> France
as it is very convenient for a anyone who is driving in a foreign country to know where to turn to when, heaven forbids, his cheese wedge breaks down.

That is a great idea, have you suggested it to Daniel?

Haven't contacted Daniel yet but just 'PM' all relevant Workshop data, like e.g.:
> Name
> Address
> Town
> Phone no
to me.
And I'll compile a nice summary, as I have some spare time

I have to find a decent workshop first!
Currently I do all my work myself, I have little trust in UK mechanics.
Especially the main dealers! :D

So thus I would be very interested in a white list.

Hey, ESone

You have a swiss-cheese wedge.

Sorry that was a really bad joke.

For now we will not implement such a list, it's not high on the priority-list here... And I doubt many (if any) will log in on the website to see if the dealer in for instance Nice is any good, when the car breaks down there you have little choice, then the book from your dealer (which you can get for free if you ask nicely, I believe) is way handier to have in your dashboard, so you can at least get the addresses and phone-numbers nearby.

I'm thinking a POI-list with all Volvo dealers for TomTom Navigator would be even better ;)

Can see your point Daniel,

but I still prefer a DomDom Navigator
Point of the whole issue is that nowadays hands on 480 expertise is, even at official Volvo dealers, a limited commodity.
So when you are in a foreign country it is good to know where to turn to in case of an unexpected breakdown.
And for local 480 'newbies' who are looking for a good workshop it's also a point of reference.
Moreover why should everyone have to invent the wheel again when all that knowhow is available.

"There will be a lot of water through the Meuse" before you get this done. there are only a handful ACTIVE dutch poeple, one or two swiss, as good as no french, or belgians at this site,(they have better 480 sites of their own)

but the idea seems good,

I will post no garage here. I had trouble with all garages with the 480, but i return the one i know the longest.... :)

I think its also a matter of arbitrariness, and more than that, of taste. also the best gartages make faults. and some customers can cope more faults than others.

so in a way its superfluous, unless it goes strict democratically and by vote. but again there is to few countries involved, but one.

luck
JPF

I agree, these things don't just get created overnight. But perhaps if we start to compile a list of our recomended workshops, than it will be far easier to make a whitelist in the future. I still like the idea though! :D

How about setting up a pol/vote to see who thinks it's a good idea, and who doesn't think it'll work? From reading this thread at the moment, it looks as if there's more support for it, than against it!

I don't think that the popularity is the issue though, it is the cost and time involved. But we can still badger Coyote1980! :D

2 B quite frank I don't see the problem as I've got some time to spare.
Just PM the info to me and I'll prepare some sort of a Excel sheet as a startingpoint.
On a later date we can always decide to prepare something as fancy as our German brothers.
So don't wait and drop me a PM :wife:
