Available soon: clear side/front markers/indicators

The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

Code: Select all

Hello,

I promised to keep You all informed on the progress of the light units that I'm working on. Hereby You receive the first information.

After a vew weeks of experiment an investments I have been able to create 2 moulds for both the side markers at the rear, as well as the small blinkers on the side.

The first tests with pouring looked promissing although I encountered some piling up of air in the plastic products. With the help of a vacuummachine and thinner plastic these enclosures can be limited.
I have been promised by the suplier of the plastic that the material will not fade, and is temperature resistant up to 80 degrees C. Therefore the costs for the materials end up pretty high. I expect to keep the original prices though.

Next week I will do the first tests with the final plastic and hopefully create the samples on wich You can deside wether to buy them or to leave them. I will also take pictures of complete finished units and pictures of them when put on the car. For those interested I will also post pictures of the moulds.

Further I will continue with the other two moulds for the front units. These will be much more complicated and will therefor take more time. But, I will definitely try to make these, don't worry :-).

Next update (with pictures) will probably be sent the end of next week.

With regards,

Wiljen Veldhuis

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the big delay, but I have veen busy graduating.

But, good news is on the way. All the moulds are ready, all I have to do now is fixing a vacuummachine to get all the air out of the plastic before pouring it. As soon as I have a good set of all the units, the pics will be placed here.

I know it is hard to wait for the pics, but I am trying my best to finnish this as soon as possible.

Hey guys,

As you all noticed, the production of the units has started. I must say I'm pretty pleased with them now. I have been able to get most of the air out of them.

1 hour ago I opened the mould for the large front blinkers and they look promising. I need to adjust the air outlet a little to let more air out, but overal they are looking good. I expect the first ones to be ready end of next week. The front day running lights will come out in about 1 hour so I'm curious about them.

Anyway, I will go down my list with all of the people that have responded and will contact them when their lights are ready. Ahti Peura has been the first to receive some units. I'm am happy that our correspondation has worked fine. I was not too happy with the fact that it took about a week for the units to travel from holland to Finland, but it is good for you guys to know that, He can tell you that I do send them when they are payed.

I'm now able to get payed with paypal, and I think that a lot of you people will be pleased with that too. I must admit that it workes fast.
For the (dutch) people, normal bank transaction is also possible.

All of you that have allready "ordered" the units will get a message/mail when the time is there they can expect them. For all of you that are interested please let me know so I can put you on my list. You're not forced to buy them, I only use it to determine the order of delivery.

Feel free to mail me when curious or when there are questions. wiljen@home.nl is the adress.

OKay, this weekend I will have a small holliday so no production this weekend, but coming monday I will get back to business :-).
The pics of the front units will be posted next week, when I have the pics when they are on my car.

Regards,

Wiljen Veldhuis
