Available soon: clear side/front markers/indicators
Hello,
I’m currently working on a series of moulds to create white (transparent) side markers (at the rear), side blinkers (just behind the front wheel) and front blinkers (including day running lights).
To spread the costs of making this mould, I am willing to make a lot more of these lights so you guys (and girls ) can also upgrade your car.
Depending on the interest and the number of people I expect the prices to be as following: (€1,- = approximately £ 0,7)
Side Markers rear left and right €20,-
Side Blinkers left and right €20,-
Front Blinkers left and right €35,-
Front day running lights left and right €20,-
A complete set will be less expensive and will cost about €80,-
Important: A set will only contain the light cover, that’s the part of the unit that is normally (orange) transparent. The rest of the light unit is not possible to make for me. When you are a little handy, it’s not that hard to take the old units apart and glue the new ones on them.
As soon as my own units will be ready I will post some pictures so you can see what part I am talking about and what the results can be.
NB. All prices are without postage costs. I live in Holland!
When you’re interested please send an e-mail to: Wiljen@home.nl, with your name, country, and the parts you would like. As soon as it’s clear for me what the exact costs will be (also for postage), I will send a mail back with further details.
Please don’t send PM’s while it takes more time for me to find out mail addresses. Mailing is more efficient. Thank you!!
Greets,
Wiljen Veldhuis

Great idea Wiljen, sure clear lenses all round would be a hit.
A difficulty to overcome might be replacing just the front section of the front clusters though. They are plastic welded and real pigs to try and dismantle. I tried replacing just the lens on my DRL, had to angle-grind the old lens off in the end and couldn't get a proper seal when replacing it. Ended up with new clusters from Volvo.
Hope you can find a way around it, maybe use a clear sealant instead of glue?
Stu.

Dont start on dismanteling the units . In my case I had to keep the transparant part in one piece in order to make a negative of it.
I managed to do it. Allmost cost me a fingertip and about 4 hours of cutting and grinding, but it worked. With the help of a friend I will be able to restore the moulding pattern to that of the original units.
So in that case, when people take their units apart and make sure that only the orange plastic part is removed, the new unit will perfectly fit.
I won't sell the units untill I have personally (succesfully) produced my own units. Last thing I want is people complaining about the quality.
Tommorow I will speak to a plastics expert, who will advice me on the materials to use, so I will definitely ask him what glue or sealant to use.
It's also important that the plastic won't change colour over time, won't melt in the sunlight and is shock resistant.
I'm very curious about the results.
