MatBat's Auto/manual styling mod.

The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

If you have driven an auto for a while Paul you will know where the gears are, I haven't driven an auto for long but I know it goes P,R,N,D,1,2,3 without needing to look at the stick

I knew I had it wrong but I couldn’t be bothered changing it. I don’t use 3,2,1 anyway. How did you do it Mat? It looks really nice I might try it

Simple, I got the leather gater from a manual 480, trimmed the lower plastic part and put it where the Auto gater part used to be.

Reminded me of the story of the guy who on the M1, dropped his XJ220 from 5th to 2nd by accident and blew the 'box to bits! Probably cost more to fix than a 480 though! lol

I really must say it's made the gear selector complete. It always did look ugly but now it's nice and goes with my leather seats. :D

Indeed! I spent quite a few minutes with my hands between my legs tugging away at the stick, but nothing happened, I tried weilding some screwdrivers down their too, but nothing.

Maybe what you needed was Milfus's hairy hands, theyre very large and the hair stays dry in such circumstances for the extra, needed grip!

I bet he sat and watched! ;)

Nope, he guarded the car, but lots of people at the scrap yard were watching me tugging frantically.
