Need Some Advice

The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

Need Some Advice

Post by Dan the 480 Man » Wed Aug 24, 2005 6:54 pm

And no, i'm not selling the 440!

Basically, i have a major hang up with the passenger side of my car. When i look at it from the passenger side (as per the pic below), i have one major hangup (and no, it's not 'cos it's a 440!). The front bumper is soon to be changed to the bodykit bumper (fingers crossed). This will make the bottom of the front bumper come in line with the bottom of the sill extensions/skirts/whatever you want to call them.

But there is one (prob. minor to everyone else) thing that i hate. Just wanted to see if anybody else could see it or wether it was just me being picky....
Image

IMO, i think the car looks better this side:
Image

I personally think that the exhaust looks strange on the first pic. as it shows from the side-lt makes the back end look so heavy whilst the front end is so narrow. Would this look better if the bigger front valance was on? The front end will then look a bit heavier, so as to counteract the rear. Would it be sensible to find some form of plastic trim to fit around the bottom of the rear bumper to hide the back box? Maybe something like this but not quite as deep?
Image

I think the 460 looks ok from that side.

I'd also like to add that i have a bit of an OCD...i'm very picky!

Aaaarrrgggghhh! :x

I'd say the blue 440 does look as if it's naff plastic trim stuck to it Dan, it's stick to what you have - it looks loads more original (proper) if you know what I mean.

However see what you mean about your front end looking a bit light compared to the main body/rear of the car - you need one of Lee's spoilers mate!

I've quite fancied a centre exit exhaust for a while, but equally i like the thought of an exhaust at each end of the bumper, like this:
440 Twin Exit Here's a (not so clever) 440 with centre exit...not so keen i must confess! Centre Exit 440. And heres a 460 with the same front end as what mine will be with the bigger valance: 460 Front End

The black 440 also has some sort of trim to cover the bottom of the exhaust-maybe something small like that? But with the exhaust can's coming out straight.

Yay or Nay??!

The front end should look alot better with the bodykit bumper on, it will give the front end more weight.

Bloody cars....freakin' money pits! :cryhard:

Okay.

I now have the orginal bodykit front valance on the car. Obviously it's not been sprayed yet... Now to me, the back end looks a little light. Is it just me? I feel i'm going crazy!

to level the side view up, and not be so 'heavy' have a look at the little bits on the bottom of S40 bumpers.....theyre like valances that stick on the corners.
bit of a screwed explaination there, but if you see em, you will know what i mean.
not sure if they will fit, but a bit of filler, and no one will know!!
