Ideas Please

The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

Ideas Please

Post by lee » Thu Jul 14, 2005 10:15 pm

Ok people I have decided to ask the club if there are any parts to which i can get (which is a lot) that you would like moulded.

For Example. I have already asked about the dash surround as its always cracking but the mould was too expensive for me to foot and then copies would be £100 due to the complex design.

lightweight fibreglass/carbon fibre bonnet would be good for all those trying to shed a few kilos off their weight...

Would hate to think of the cost for that much carbon fibre though!!!

Yes, but the problem it the GRP or whatever it is is VERY heavy (Volvo didn't realise it would be so heavy), so for those wanting to lighten, a glass bonnet could be a very viable solution - although it's a major piece to repro, so would need to pre-orders in all likelihood.

Lee, if you want to do door pockets, I have a spare set which are mint which you can have for the purpose.

Thanks for that! I guess it's not very light then. Last week I stopped Blinky's bonnet from shutting on MatBat's head! Was not on the latch 100%

Snow cover, and bonnet, as it weighs a fooking ton! More than it would have in metal anyhow.

Wondered what the point of door pockets was, they cost under a tenner anyway and the expense for Lee might mean they're not worth doing.

Yeah, some kind of rear spoiler, maybe just similar to a dbs one but maybe with line in it or something so that its not exactly a copy...

Things like seatbelt-arms and doorpockets are quite cheap through Volvo and are still available. I think things like a snow-scoop (as you are already doing) and the inside of glove-box compartments would be great, but don't have many other ideas, sorry...

Rear spoiler is a must!
CF Dash surround would be classy.
Side skirts should have been made standard anyway!

Maybe try and find a company that could make a remake of the rear clusters? Long shot I know but they are very desired!
