Non collection&celebration owners..time to strike back;)

The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

Non collection&celebration owners..time to strike back;)

Post by Anton_K » Tue Jul 05, 2005 10:15 am

I must say that the numbered plate in collection& celebration cars looks good..it´s like a perfect place for a plaque etc..
Well, as I know Lotus was involved in designing our 480 suspension..so I thought a little reminder would be in place:

It´s nice to see the reactions of passengers when they see it.."yeah, this car handles well, no wonder"

Maybe you can put a porsche sign next to it as well ... they were involved in the tweaking of the original renault engine to the turbo model

I recently heard Porsche tweaked the Renault engine, but the first thing Volvo did when they had it was un-tweak it again to make it more 'Volvo-ish'...

That's what i mean, if volvo were that proud of it, then the badges would be there already or at least be more info on it. From what i've heard Lotus only played a small part in the suspension??

I'm glad they have these renault engines. I like em.

AFAIK a huge number of european cars have had "lotus tuned" suspension.

I think it's a big part of Lotus's business.

Porsche tweaked the engine to Volvo's spec. The Turbo has a porsche engine managment system, pistons and intake manifold. The 1.7 engines with over 100 hp are also tweaked by porsche. The main things they did is to tune the intake system / exhaust to get better torque in the lower RPM range.

Ever driven an Elise? was privaliged to drive an Elise hard round Castle Coombe last year and it was amazing!! wow! That handling was amazing!

And for porsche to have tuned the induction/exhaust is just as good!!!!

What I found out is that Lotus indeed helped with the suspension of the 480.

Porsche altered the STD Renault engine and Volvo then added the Turbo to it.
