15" TSW Evo3 - opinions please...

The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

15" TSW Evo3 - opinions please...

Post by Ally » Sat Jul 02, 2005 4:00 pm

My Cetus? 14" 7 spoke alloys are looking a bit tired and aren't sealing well so new wheels beckon...

What do you think? Don't want to go too big as the roads round here are crappy to say the least.

As far as I can work out 195/55 R15 with a PCD 100mm E38 and a bore of 52.1mm. [/code]

they look ok ally......
i think its down to personal preference.....i like the wheels that look like loads of spokes, and closed styles....i dont like to see all the brake gubbings!
if you like em, go for it!

the pcd et and cb stuff are all right iirc, but even then, the cb can be changed with spigot rings.....

Not bad looking-need lower profile tyres though. (i know it's just a mock up).

Although, why not save the money and get the Cetus rims re-furbished? Get some decent tyres sorted-why not even get another set of Volvo alloys? Like the Taurus ones maybe? I know they are quite hard to get hold of, but a nice tidy set would suit your car a treat. Your's looks very similar to Murf's-think how nice it could look with re-furbed allys.

480's are lucky in the sense that they look good anyway-you can get away with a nice set of Volvo alloys on them because the 480 has a striking appearence anyway. Not saying aftermarket ones look bad, not at all! I believe it was Martin Holmes 480 that had those large graphite looking Fox's on...they looked nice too.

You have to be careful with alloys-they can make or break the look of a car! Experiment with some more-you'd be surprised at what actually looks good. That's how i got mine-i wanted a set of Kahn RSR's, but after playing around on Photoshop i discovered the TSW Evo R's. I was just messing about and tried them. That was an accident, but one thats paid off!

Those look nice on there, but have a look at some more first-alloys are a big expensive descision!

There, lecture over  !
(seriously, i didn't mean any of that to come across all negative-i meant it all in the most positive way!)

Just checked on the main site and my wheels are Avior not Cetus.

Thanks for the advice Dan. I got a quote of £120 to get four wheels powder coated, but first I'd have to get a set of 15" Volvo wheels and as you said that might not be that easy - plus I'd still need to get rubber...

Getting close to £324 which is what I've seen those TSWs for.

I just such a difficult decision... :?

They look lovely Ally,I like em! The colour of the alloys suits the body colour well.....

If its of any interest to you,the Taurus Volvo 480 alloys may appeal to you,y'know the ones on the banner on top of this page-the car on the far left.Theyre 15s too.

Its just a matter of trying www.partsgateway.co.uk ,Braydon Motor Company or any other Volvo breakers to see if they have a good set in.....

I take it you know the specifications whilst shopping around for alloys. They need to be 4 stud (no shit!),ET35 100 PCD.
Good Luck mate

Steve.

Oh Ally,if you like the Cup-style alloys like those on the 911 Porsche,RH make cups in 13-17" if you can find some. They are in the UK.VW people usually know where to get them, often secondhand as Ive found out...

Daniel480 had some 16"ers of these on his 2-tone about a year back,do a search if you are interested on this site.Theres bound to still be piccies of em,or email him.....They looks the "poodles' privates" on a 480 I reckon....

I will just say-i din't mean to come across like i didn't like those alloys-the ones in real life look nice-i think they suit the lines of the car. Would have to be lowered i think though...i'm just a fan of standard alloys on the 480. Good luck with your quest-be interesting to see them on for real. I know what you mean with regards to re-furbing too-i got a quote to have all mine redone, and with tyres to i nearly passed out....
