The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

Would be a good mod for the 480 if you frequent multistory carparks!

you'd need some pretty powerful gas dampers / springs to lift the heavy, scaffold pole doors!

yep, but than do it good, mercedes/ferrari like, hinges in the middle of the roof. However, the round topright angle of the door is quit ideal for a hinge like this, as opeing, it will not easy hit anything. Gas dampers are out of the question, the door is so heavy the springs must be too, so you need to hang your hole body on the door to get it down
I am thinking interactive electrics, like some mercedes benz doors
Hmm, full stop here.... this will be expensive!

Could you use some kind of hydraulic system? ... kinda like they do with bus/coach doors. That way you could open and shut the doors at the push of a button... or even cooler would be that you could use a keyfob to open them remotely!

I spotted someone using it on another forum, and thought it was kinda neat! I thought I'd give it a go on here. If it's too big or annoys people, I can take it off....

yes, it is displaying your real, live, IP informaton - it's nothing special technically - it's looking at the HTTP referrer header in every http packet you send (except the ISP part, which is a simple lookup to the IANA ip allocation tables)....
Very effective though
*update* In fact I dont think it's even looking at IANA tables, I think it just chops the domain from a reverse DNS lookup...

Back to the subject, yeah!! nice doors always have wanted to do this to my 480 as doors are so long/heavy and seem to be constantaly shutting leg in them due to lack of space would be a nice subtle mod.
Have found a company that specialise in these type of conversions, don't have details to hand, but can dig out if anyone is interested!!

It's not something
I've written...
It was simply a graphic signature that I saw someone using on another forum, so I looked at the properties for the image, and took a look at
http://www.danasoft.com who are the company that had generated it. I'm fairly certain that the way it works is pretty much how Dragon described, and all it's doing is taking the information from the headers and serving you back a customised graphic. I don't think there's any kind of conspiracy involved to get you to buy stuff in this particular graphic, - or did you mean that as a general comment for other adverts? If it's gonna cause a problem/concern, let me know and I'll remove it!
