Hey people, I found some old chats about this subject but couldn't find details, my 95 Celeb is missing one but does have the little side wings, does anyone have links or contacts of someone that can reproduce a spoiler/splitter to fit, I heard there was a place near Brum?

The WR Composites spoiler is good - it's thicker than the original and definitely more robust, but that does mean it needs a little more fiddling to fit (rather than being able to flex it about, it's more a case of get all screws partly in then progressively tighten from the outside ends inwards...

I had one stored for years and have now fitted it to Pud as part of her restoration:

I spoke to him earlier in the year and he wanted £140 for one. I couldn't bring myself to pay that much even though I'd like one!

Back in the day that's the sort of money they were from Volvo - bloomin expensive piece of plastic!!

They certainly make the front of the car look better finished off, but perhaps not at any cost...

Wayne is in the process of re-organising his business - the truck racing parts haven't happened this year and boat parts ordered have not always been paid for, so he has decided to give up his unit. He has been losing money monthly on the rent so when we saw him just before lockdown, he said his plan was to give notice on the unit once he'd moved everything out (heavens only knows where he'll put it all) Then get a job (he thought he had something lined up) and put a large shed in his back garden. He will work from there part time, making smaller parts like the 480 bits and once the dust has settled he'll look at prices again. Without the overheads he should be able to make reductions so maybe wait and see how it all pans out.
Wayne work in fibreglass, so his splitters are a lot stronger than Volvo originals.

Hello monkeysox - always nice to welcome new members. You need to do 10 posts before you can add pictures, they have to be hosted elsewhere and add a link to your post on here. We'd love to see pictures of your 480 - every car should have its own thread with its story !
Once life gets back to being rather more normal and we start having meetings again, we'd be very pleased to have you join us if you can.

Must be a bit of aa delay, its not come through, I'm trying to find out how the little side wing/spoiler matches up with the WR front spoiler but can't find any pictures of a 480 with the wings

When you say "the wings" do you mean the side bits of spoiler? Like you can just make out on this photo of Pud:

If you do, then they are just the side lengths of spoiler, often left when the front section gets smashed out. You'd need to remove them to fit a new spoiler - as you can see in the Pud photo above, the spoiler is all one piece to the sides too.

Or do you mean something else? In which case please can you explain further since I am not sure what you are referring to!

Great to see another Celebration on here - look forward to some photos as soon as you have the necessary post-count.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean and just the info I was looking for,, I was hoping to find a repro replica spoiler and keep the side fins, I really dont want to lose them.

Well, if by some long shot chance you find a genuine spoiler, or you do go for a composite one, it'll be the complete item in one piece and you'll need to get those side bits off. They are held on by a hefty bolt each side...

Spoiler off car looks like this:

Hope that helps!

Not sure I'm understanding, the side bits are not separate parts of the front spoiler?

No, it is all one piece.

Because the thinnest bit of the spoiler is at the corners, what happens when they get hit (kerb, something in road - like, for my own past experience, a damn great pheasant that ran out in front of me, etc) is that the centre section either gets lumps knocked out of it or smashes away completely. Usually, however, it snaps at the corners and you are left with just the side bits.

That's what's happened to yours, that is what had happened to Pud. The photo above showing them is the older one. I had to remove those broken side bits and throw them away in order to fit the new spoiler.

Does that make sense now?

The spoiler wraps around the sides - have a look at the photo on this listing, you can clearly see where the splitter ends on a pale one.

In other words, if you look at the photo of the one on the carpet, the two short sections that point backwards at right angles are the bits you have left on your bumper as it stands...
