sticking on a nose cone badge, help with measurements

The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

sticking on a nose cone badge, help with measurements

Post by timrosser » Wed Jul 03, 2013 12:28 pm

HI there,

Ive been meaning to resticker 480/103 for a bit since I got it sprayed last year and wondered if any helpful member could tell me how far in from the passengers cluster, and how far up from the bumper the badge should sit.

Anyh random tips for making it look stock are appreciated too!

Tim

From the bottom of the nose cone it's 25mm,
From the cluster edge of the cone it's about 36 or 37mm.

How do you mean 'tips for making it look stock?'
I just use some double sided foam tape off eBay like that linked below...

Thanks davy thats great! Is stock the cool name for factory standard? I'm not taking it banger racing thats for sure ;-)

Thanks for the tape link thats helpful. I'm currently trying to get the badge to set in a volvo 'ice lolly with just the silver bits exposed so I can spray the top silver and leave the rest black- I'm thinking jelly or butter may be a better substance... any one else tried this?

Ah, no worries!

I knew what you meant by 'stock', but didn't know what you meant by tips for making it look stock, I thought 'Surely you just stick it on!' But you want to paint it properly. Sorry, I can't help there, I just painted mine fully black ;)

Good idea Tim...another one, cover up the bits you don't want to paint with playdo or similar. The Games Workshop guys use this to paint camouflage on tanks...
