rusty wheel arches

The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

After looking at the html, I don't think the order form has ever worked (Dave, feel free to contact m,e regarding why)

In the meantime, he can be emailled at dave@dbsvolvos.co.uk or PMd on here. I don't know if I'm free to give out his number (although I may have done in the past if you search the archives?)

I think i'll use this thread... sorry xrs ;)

Does anyone know if the 440/460 rear arches are similar to the 480? There are no available repair patches for 480 here in Finland :( If the 440/460 arches would be even slightly similar, I'd be able to do it from them. Or any other workarounds perhaps? :)

The 440/460 rear arches will fit the 480 after some modifications on the 440/460 arches..we used 440/460 arches on my 480 and the result was very god.. :D

You can also use the front wings off an 480 at the rear

The rear arches are done. They were made out of 440's replace arches, though they weren't so easy to fit as someone said :) Arches were soldered to the body, should be better than normal welding considering the rust. The guy who did the job, couldn't find the right paint colour tone :( (199 is the code for white, but it didn't match) So it looks kinda sad now. Maybe I'll make it a Two Tone ;)

Does Volvo sell the original paints?

Yes, Volvo sells paint! I had my color mixed at a paintshop. They did a marvellous job at 321 Dark Green Metallic, but then again, that colour hardly fades...

I've been driving with my 'new' ES for few days, and I have to say the repairman was a bit modest, I can hardly see the old/new paint border. The paint was with the correct code so it should correspond the colour. Ok, well, the exhausts tailpipe was broken off, imagine the sound. Phew, I've been so embarassed with the sound my car makes right now :D I got the whole new tail muffler, 115 euros! Darn! But had to be done, the muffler was literally broke.

the last bit of tail pipe fell of my "S" once and it sounded kinda meaty and raw in a good sort of way. then the whole back box fell off and it sounded like a tractor, i got it sorted sharpish!!!

Well, mine sounds like a tractor, and I can't hear if people are talking on back seats :)
