I just got some springs, and some gas shocks 4 the rear. Im looking to get some Koni yellow shocks as soon as i can afford. Its lowered by 40mm. Its a bugger on speed bumps with passengers in tho lol

I have to say, in my opinion, Taurus are the best looking 480 wheel, here's the proof
Thats on a 40mm drop on standard but new shocks. It was a little scrapey on massive speed-bumps, but as it was only me and Shaneeka in the car, it was never a problem. I wouldn't recommend a 40mm drop with 4 people in it though! Depends how original you want to keep the car i guess. Cetus look ok, but Taurus do give the impression that they're wider than they really are because the spokes come outward form the centre of the wheel a little, and they curve inwards along the spokes a little too.
Can't remember the exact Fully Comp figure, but it only went over £200 as i paid insallments. I was 25 at the time though! My 2.0i 440 when i was 21 was only £430ish FC, and that was with mods declared (Springs, wheels, exhaust etc). That was with Tesco. The 480 was with E-Sure.
Insurance is a rip off!

get some nice ATS Cup wheels, they fit the car perfect
Just need to roll the rear fenders and have some custom work done on the centering rings and grind down casting marks on the front caliber. You lucky ones there, I can't get any Kony yellows for my car in Estonia. Noone wants to bring them in here.

Re: What do you reckon?
Cetus are too thin and the offset is wrong, which is why I went for the GT's, they are classic and suite the 480 better than any other Volvo wheel, imo.480 Tatey wrote:Hi guys,
I've been pondering over the celeb today and thought the taurus wheels would look pretty sweet on it.
Lowered 30mm on Bilstein blick shocks and Lesjofors springs.
compared to the Cetus...
As for insurance! Go with Norwich union, fully comp is actually cheaper through them than 3rd party until you hit 25!! Just don't expect them to do a fucking thing if you are involved in an accident.
Why won't God heal amputees?
When I was 19, Norwich Union put me on their Bonus Accelerator Plus policy. Fully comp and 9 months for 1 year NCB.
9 months later, with 2 years NCB, I get my renewal. It's £250 more than I was paying. And it was TPFT.
They even had the nerve to ask me why I was leaving!

Very true.eEm wrote:Just don't expect them to do a fucking thing if you are involved in an accident.
The guy that drove into the side of my car was with NU and it took them 3 months to sort the claim-apparently they couldnt get in touch with their customer for over 2 months, and then I got mad at them and they said they would give it 2 weeks and it would automatically go in my favour, and then last minute he got in touch and said it was all my fault, so they came to look at my car (I requested to be there and they neglected to tell me!) and 2 weeks on they realised that there was no way in this world that I could have been in the wrong and they sent me a cheque-which was incorrectly addressed to "Brigadier" Mace, which my bank rejected and asked me to come to an interview to confirm that I wasnt doing some sort of "laundering" and eventually I got the money!
On the plus side tho, I got money instead of getting the car fixed (sweet!), and then I wrote to them in disgust a 3 page letter saying how didsgusted I was with their service, and included copies of the last 3 months phone bills and the train ticket I had to buy to get to Devon from Brum to see my bank manager, and they refunded all that money! (£60 ticket and almost £30 in phone [damn 08 numbers!])
So....

It's awful when stuff like this happens, I'm surprised you didn't claim for loss of transport for that time I really don't get companies like that, but at the end of the day you eventually got some money.esta wrote:and they refunded all that money! So....
As for 08 numbers have a look at www.saynoto0870.co.uk you can search via number or company number and sometimes the numbers listed are direct.

Re: What do you reckon?
That link will be invaluable thanks! At the mo I am with Direct line (anothe con, I went fully comp with them thinking I could drive other cars-just after I bought the policy it was changed that you know had to be 25 or over! ) Anyway, I know use their branch office on a normal 01 number and get them to put me thro! Usually it involves a nag or a threat to cancel but hey!!muddyfox470 wrote:It's awful when stuff like this happens, I'm surprised you didn't claim for loss of transport for that time I really don't get companies like that, but at the end of the day you eventually got some money.esta wrote:and they refunded all that money! The best they quoted me is £950kev wrote:I don't know how to break this to you youngsters but I paid £119 fully comp this year. !
This is on a classic car policy with Performance Direct
I'm currently paying £550 with swiftcover, 1 year NCB, 4 year driving licence etc. I'm 21 atm as well.
Prices seem to differ so much between insurers, I don't quite understand! :s
Wouldn't mind knocking off a couple more hundreds come renewal next year My first year, fully comp was £1200 [Through Swinton]

Just go straight to the back of any 'Motorists centre', you'll find everything you need to 'Barry' your whip! Tinting spray, 'competition' mesh, chrome exhaust tips and down-lighters!
Make sure you get the plastic tinting spray not the glass and just clean everything up with white spirit before you spray. You need to remove the interior trim (10-12 screws and 4 tiny metal plates) in the boot to get to the markers but they just pop out.
@ Tatey; Nice wheels!!!!! Remind me of the GT's but deep-dish stylie. Got's to get me some of that action.
